I can't believe I didn't post this yet, I already had this close to a month, man i'm slipping. I have posted up posts about what to get and posted up some ads that some of you remember but I came across this on Craigslist for $600. It was a good drive to Harrisburg, but well worth it! My new ride! I know some of you will be amazed, astonished and surprised A mint 1985 GTI! Bone stock 1.8 dirt kickin 8 valve with 330K on the clock. Grassroots Motorsports for life! I think a few SCCA goodies are in hold in the near future, megasquirt, ITBs, rally lights, and who the hell knows what else. Right now I need to get a new exhaust considering rust is holding my pipe and muffler together.

Score. Now you can enjoy autocrossing on 3 wheels.

Nice, my 85 gti lived a very hard and abused life before i got it and we didn't start off on the right foot (i blew up the clutch on the test drive). But it was a fun car to drive. I love the quads with the small bumpers, looks like a sweet find.

Great find.

I have a '91 GTI in the garage that I paid $500 for that doesn't look near that nice. The little I've driven it it's a fun car. Enjoy.

That's a lot of miles. Good thing it's an old German car .

Looks great, though! Especially the interior. Mk1 & 2 Golfs seem to have a really nice, simple, driver-oriented interior layout.

Go get 'em, Nick. And don't listen to folks disrespecting the 8v..you can't make them very fast, but you can't kill `em either.

330K? Makes me happy, since I've only got 228 on mine...

Yeah, some 3 wheeled autocross and hillclimbs haha

Yeah I have a buddy that has been into and tuned VW's he's 32? with his dad also and I have literally shown him at least 50 craigs ads and each one either, maybe, heck no, or a good find, and all the the good finds were of course sold. I have Alfas, E30's E28s, Volvos, VWs, Audi 4000s, 90's 80s, etc. but we came across this and he said JUMP on this! So I called the guy and the rest is history I'm glad the guy wasn't a true enthusiast and knew a WHOLE lot on the car because I was ASTONISHED at the condition of the whole car and the interior. The 5 infamous Golf rust spots this is at the jacking point before the wheel well, that's it! Some very tiny surface body rust, and the shock towers are beautiful! I was amazed for how many miles also. I wish he would have kept the Car and Driver Car of the Year sticker it had on though, you can see reminence where it was. I like the 8v and the close ratio is fun. I think a new muffler and a shift rebuild would be good. my buddy had given me a seat back as a "car" gift so it doesn't have the rip, but a good clean and sweep and it looks amazing, even the air surround is in great condition. The only thing that sucks is that the giuy cut holes in the hatch shelf for these speakers that don't even work! My radio can play one station, CDs and only the front two speakers work, that's what i'm talkin about!! It even still has the factory stickers next to the spare tire

wow that is VERY clean, that's my style, it's hard to impress me with that style but you nailed it! I want to lower mine to about where yours sits and obviously you'll go on for MILES. and trust me, I don't listen to them haha
