it was a 2003 svt focus with a powerworks supercharger. Great car, tons of great memories.
No salt or sand on the road, I slid through a stop sign from a hill, t-boned by a prius and I then hit an audi suv. The cop put in the report that it wasn't my fault. There were multiple accidents this morning with three fatalities.
My trusted mechanic wants to pull the engine and supercharger and put it in another svt. I'm waiting to see what insurance offers, etc. I totally loved this car. Of the stable, this is the one I would have sacrificed if I had a choice.
Whoa! That makes for a bad morning! Glad you’re not hurt (or not too sore?)
I know very well what it’s like to lose a good vehicle (two in one month for me). Good luck with your final outcome.

I'm starting to get sore. I am really sick about this. I loved the car. I wished it had been my truck instead, but we have other cars that I love more. I don't know if I had taken the miata this morning, it has studded snows. This car just had snows. I'm on the hunt for another car.
Do you do any events at ft devins?
In reply to thedoc :
No, I’ve been wanting to get up there but life has a way of thwarting my automotive desires. In reality want to get to the Mt Washington Hillclimb in NH. So far I’ve been to Seekonk and New England Dragway with the family.
Ibuprofen and a couple good massage appointments and you should hopefully be ok!
In reply to ebonyandivory :
Thanks. If you get a chance check out events at devins. We have several groups that meet there. You can auto cross anything. I'm hoping to do a hill climb this year with scc of nh.
I'm on the hunt for a car to replace my focus, but there are not that many svt focus' out there
In reply to thedoc :
Buy back on an older car should be low. Can you not swap the parts that make it an SVT into a nice, non-SVT?
I'm sorry for the rough morning, glad no one was too badly hurt (though you sound pretty beat up).

Like a ZTW for example...
yep, sounds like supercharged SVT wagon time to me
Man, that sucks. Kazoo Jr. lost this long term "family member" to an unlicensed, uninsured motorist trying to do a 5 lane illegal u-turn a couple of weeks ago.
Like you, he really loved the car, and it was exactly what he wanted. I was slightly surprised by how upset he was over the whole thing.
In reply to thedoc :
I have not been to a Devins autocross in a long time. If you have any lingering pain get it looked at. Better safe than sorry. Necks and backs tend to not fully show problems right away. Looks like the car did it’s job and kept you protected and kept intrusion to a minimum.
I'm sorry to see this; I really like that generation of focus, and would love to have one with the blower. Glad you walked away. I second the recommendation for getting checked out. If you have physical complications later, it would be good to have a medical history when it comes time to apply for insurance.
And...welcome to the forum.

My condolences to Jr. That same perp ran a stop sign and turned left trying to go around me when I was already in the intersection turning left. He could’ve cleared me on my right easily but he decide to cross 4 lanes and go around me, screw the stop sign.
There was a car in front of him I let go first so I know he totally blew the stop sign.
Glad it was only my DD truck. I will replace it in a few years.

Glad you are ok, modern cars can definitly take a hit. Studs are great, the fact that road crews in my area are lax at best is why i run studs, but you dont know that it would have made a difference. Dont worry about it too much.
Id pull the engine, or any other cool parts and put them on another SVT focus, maybe get one thats a bit worn around the edges. Then the car you loved sort of lives on and you get to build a cool project
Thanks for your condolences guys. The car is officially totaled. I have a patient who works at the collision center. I have not heard from the insurance company yet on settlement and buyback. For those of you who love the svt focus: I should have picked up a four door svt when I saw one. We are having a rather spirited discussion on the replacement car. My daughter is tired of the beaters my son and I love, my wife wants to get out of her fiesta st. First world problems for sure. I want something I can rally cross, but has to double as a temporary spare car for my daughter. Again, total first world problems.
Yes, I am getting checked out at 12:30 today. One of the interesting things is the coffee cup that sat between me and the passenger seat. It is dented on both sides. I am def a sore boy today.
Thanks for the well wishes and caring about my poor gone focus. I'll tell you, the trips and stuff we pulled off with that car. You cannot believe what you can get in the back of one of those with the seat down and the hatch up. We had a boxed swimming pool put in the back of that thing with a forklift. It never missed a beat. Great car
Sorry to see this, I was just speaking to a buddy of mine about building an SVT Focus as a rally cross car for our next build. I love first gen Foci and these things are just great hope you get to feeling better and the insurance treats you right.
Looks like it got the side skirts good. If the front end cap is good that's a few dollars. Dunno if the seats still command high dollar but I know I'd be interested in the front bumper cover.
Otherwise glad you're safe.
But for sure keep going for a check up. Back pain can be a real nuisance.
Stay safe out there.
