Hi Gang. Need some math help. I've got a motor with an aftermarket crank button on it and no timing tab....

crank stroke is 48.7mm I need to find out how far down the piston top is at 20deg BTDC and 40 deg btdc I don't know rod length either.

Anyone know the formulas?

thanks 44

Difference in rod journal height would be:

20° = 1.4685mm

40° = 5.6968mm

I'm not sure what impact rod length would have on these measurements, if any.

darn close I found the formula in my 2 stroke notes from days gone by.... T= L+Rx(1-cosA)- square root of L^2-(RxSinA)^2

where A= angle in deg L= con rod length (strokex2 if unknown) R=stroke / 2

i came up with 20 deg = 1.4834 and 40 = 5.7485

Thanks 44
