Doesn't a pic mean it "really happened"? One of the other posts wondered about it-thinking the inside wheel track was actually the outer one, but you can see where a "parallel" wheel track further on the outside arches around perfectly to the missing chunk of concrete. Man, what a wild ride!

wow is all i can say and its very kick ass that he from the windy city.... but does anyone know what rules loophole that he found that allowed him to run a 20 year old ride though?

Of course, it's not as if he took a $500 car and drove to the start line. There was a lot of unacknowledged work involved. For example, I've spent a lot of time poring over what's involved in an FIA legal rally cage, and it's not the kind of thing you bang out in a couple of hours.

But still, big thumbs up for putting in the effort and making the sacrifices involved to make a dream come true.

I once asked Bill why he insisted on going through every spectator section crossed up and with the engine banging off the limiter. "Dude," he said, "I don't care if it costs me a couple of tenths. It makes the fans go nuts."

Perfect.

I say we figure out how to use Caswell as an adjective. Maybe as a way to describe having more fun that you should be allowed. Hoon of the year, for sure.

They mention it, but the gloss over it. However it's still pretty incredible! My current hero!

I say "pulling a Caswell" should refer to letting it all hang out in a totally badass way, everything including the videos of the fans was epic. My favorite though is "the bridge" section and the pics of the tire marks, even Chuck Norris wet his pants, not Caswell...

Please elaborate...there is a Rally America class in the WRC?

I think that the name of the regional rally held in conjunction with the WRC rally was "Rally America" as in the continent. http://www.rallymexico.com/home.php# Check the "Rally America" button under the results tab.

I think it's similar to Rally America (the organization) National rallies which are often run in conjunction with regional rallies.

Great read - I'd love to see a full feature on this in GRM!
