I've recently been asked to introduce one of the prettiest girls on God's green earth to cars. Obviously there's lots of lecturing and a trip to the track in the works, but I feel like YouTube is the perfect way to feed Camila Finn, or any other noob, to our hobby. The question becomes, what videos should be considered essential viewing?
Obviously this list is going to include different things for everyone as we're all a special type of crazy. So far I have:
- Ken Block's Gymkhana series
- A random Group B video
- The trailer for Truth In 24
- Top Gear's Senna Tribute
- Climb Dance
- WRC Cats
This list is a bit heavy on the sideways AWD action. What would you include?
Just tell her to watch Love the Beast and The World's Fastest Indian.
Then post some photos, noob.

Don't be cheap! Take her out to see the Senna movie if it's playing near you.

I wasn't even aware of Love the Beast. Looks cool. Fastest Indian is one I need to see myself.
I'll leave the picture taking to professionals. Google can certainly point you towards some of their work.
Rendezvous is an interesting choice, but I'm not sure if I would say it's essential.
I didn't know Senna was still in NYC. I went to see it opening weekend and would totally go again. Good call.
All of "Too Fast to Race" and "Still Too Fast to Race" can be seen in ~7 parts each on Youtube, great history of the "Killer Bs." Both of those videos highlight Michele Mouton, Audi's female driver that got runner up in the '82 WRC, Michele's story might interest your noob. Also "Colin McRae Pedal to the Metal" is all on Youtube in multiple parts. "50 Years Sideways," can be watched in it's entirety in one video on Youtube.
I own "Dust to Glory," on DVD, it's also on Netflix, and "Love the Beast" is on Netflix as well.
Those are almost all running sideways in the dirt movies, but what can I say; I've got a thing for the "Finnish Flick" and I ain't talking about a movie when I say "flick."
Also a lot of the Pikes Peak videos are amazing, the Go Pro sponsored video of Monster Tajima's record breaking run this past year gives me chills every time I watch it.
What's the video with the honda 4wd wagon jumping dunes?

Let's give her some history and perspective. Yank Tanks is a good one. Then anything and everything on Chip Foose, it'll give her a respect for what goes into making a truly NICE car.
Some Jeeps rockcrawling will help her SEE what that stuff we call supension is doing, but on an exaggerated scale.
You've got some good stuff, Lee. I'm a big fan of Dust To Glory as well. But until she's hooked I want to feed her bite-sized pieces. She's too busy for many feature-length films.
Rock crawling is an interesting idea...

Wagon Attack 2
+1 on Yank Tanks. Just watched that recently on Netflix, neat little documentary.

meh...that wasn't even a Ferrari. Ferrari sound was dubbed over some mundane Merc...
Look it up
"Race to Dakar" and "Long Way Down" are both here in their entirety...

"dust to Glory" in its entirety is here:

there were a E36 M3e-ton of other car movies on YouTube until recently when the host (somewhere in Scandanavia) got shut down due to copy write claims from Sony Music. He didn't last long after posting some rare Woodstock footage of Jimi Hendrix

AKA "Rendezvous." Best 10 minutes of left over film ever. Perfect ADD viewing. She'll love the end, I promise.
If you want rock crawling, check out any of the "Dezert People" videos or "Haulin' or Crawlin'" videos, there are a bunch of each. I don't know of any complete videos online, just trailers. Also check out all of the King of the Hammers videos. There are a lot of KoH videos, and trailers all over Youtube.
I've purchased a few Top Truck Challenge tapes/DVDs back in the day, and have had several mailed to me, I guess to bribe me into keeping a magazine subscription. Some of the older ones '98-'03ish are alright, actually have some tech in them, but after that they're all about as good as any of the crap you see on Spike's Power Block, just feature length 4wheelparts advertisements.

Surprised to see anyone mention Yank Tanks. I enjoyed it. I really like seeing the love of cars seen in the overall context of people's lives and not just shows/movies that take place entirely in a shop or on a track.. like, you know, every failurific american car show ever.

And some clips of Monaco. Something old, and something new. So she can see how we have progressed. Girls love Monaco. Super classy.

Christine...
And btw, it's not a hobby, its an obsession, and should accurately portrait your emotions toward cars...
"Truth in 24" is a free download on iTunes.
For any woman or girl just getting into cars and/or racing, I think any video with Michelle Mouton should be required viewing... especially this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp8QkyXyTrc
And this "Best of..." vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYwXpHS5Jls
And since I'm thinking of French car stuff now, "Rendezvous" is always fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8Vo8iGLMwkhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8Vo8iGLMwk
