+1 for the Pure Sounds videos.
+1 for Love the Beast.
Howstuffworks.com has some great animations showing how internals work. It's my goto for showing people what actually goes on inside a rotary.
Of course, there's no substitute for standing next to the wall and having your chest reverberate as the C5-Rs come down the back straight... no choice but to have your heart beat in sync with the exhaust pulses... just to FEEL the sound that those things make in every inch of your being. It's a religious ecstatic moment.... even for a Ford guy like me.

I think a video of the ferrari factory, or interview/video of Sabine Schmitz, the Brazilian connection with Senna...(links are blocked at work).
FWIW, Mrs. Oldtin thinks the Ken Block hooning is kinda retarded (something to the effect of somebody's 15 year swiped a race car) - she appreciates the car control, loves the cars and seeing live events, but finds most car shows/videos and racing on tv mind-numbingly boring. What's automotively interesting to a hardcore gearhead is perhaps different that what gets the attention of an international supermodel.
I found this a couple of weeks ago:
autocrossing with Dick Turner
It's got lots of nice autoX instructions. Very informative if looking a bit dated.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! I have been looking for movie listings for Senna, and it's playing this Friday at a local theater!
If movies count, then look up:
Vanishing Point
Ronin
The Italian Job (the original, thank you)

This.
She's simply asked me to show her a bit of what makes me tick. I can't make her like the same things I do, nor do I really want to. This is just a brief way for her to see why I like this stuff.
Hans Stuck in a M3 GTR going around the Nurburgring is a beautiful thing to watch. But for the uninitiated the gear whine is annoying and the video isn't particularly exciting.
As far as Michele Mouton goes, she's certainly an interesting footnote in rally history, but she's french. And neither of us is a fan of the French

And btw, it's not a hobby, its an obsession, and should accurately portrait your emotions toward cars...
Christine?
At one time it was certainly an obsession, but now I live in NYC and my notably stock car is in Florida. I haven't even been to a car-related event in the past few months. As such, I think it's safe to downgrade it to a hobby.

I've yet to meet a car guy that has watched Eric Bana's "Love the Beast" that doesn't immediately identify with the movie in some way and want their significant other to watch it. Plus it's got Eric Bana in it, which should help keep her engaged in watching it.

If a trip to the track is in the works, this is the best video I've ever seen to give someone who's never done an HPDE a crystal clear idea of what to expect out of their first session:

Use the Stuck video as a great opportunity, or any of the other links.
Sit her down next to you, enjoy all the visceral excitement of your chosen vid(s) while giving passive attention to your lady. Let your guard down and show her how much you really like this stuff.
Then, show her that she means as much (or more) to you. If she get's it, you're golden. If she doesn't, well, there's your answer.
This one is pretty great.

plain old auditory sex...I feel the love I have for cars down deep in my core when I watch that. It gets no better.
Check out a hill climb at Pikes Peak, and maybe one of Keith's from his LsX Miata. I'm sure he'll link up one.
