Long story short, for the last 3 weeks, I've been sicker than a dog. Been sick to my stomach, can't eat, night sweats.
Anyways, test found billirubin in my urine. This is an indication that there is a problem. Billi usually goes out the other end. This means either the liver is damage and can't produce it, or the passageway is blocked. So the kidneys take over and dump the bill into your urine.
They've been testing my blood and they are being pretty systematic. I do think I have a good doc. This problem can come from many angles, could be a virus, could be alcohol, or over use of tylenol(booze and tylenol are not likely, as I don't use tylenol, and at my worse in life have maybe 3 beers a week). Tests haven't concluded virus yet.
So 4 weeks ago, a week or so before I started to feel like crud, I wrecked my car pretty good at the philo hillclimb. Landed on my roof, when down a bank about 100 ft only to be stopped by a tree. Overall it felt pretty gentle believe it or not. No evidence of my helmet hitting anything. Cage intact. EMT's released me on the scene, after signing a refusal to treat. However, there only concern was my blood pressure was high and wanted me to cool down first.
I did mention this to my doc, but he didn't seem to give it any due. However, I don't think he has any frame of reference for a motorsports wreck. Or perhaps, he was able to discount it for other reasons I'm not aware of(I'm not a DR, duh).
Just wondering if anyone here has encountered internal injuries they can attribute to a wreck. Of particular interest is something that didn't really pop until a week after the event. Only pain I felt from the wreck was soreness in one of my shoulders about 36 hours after the wreck(pretty minor at that, been more sore after a tame lacrosse or hockey game).
No personal experience, or any related experience. Just wanted to wish you the best, and hope you get everything sorted out. Thought the name looked familiar but didn't know where from until I read Philo. Have seen your posts on the PHA forums. Don't think I've ever met you, but still best of luck with your injuries, and hope your docs can sort everything out.

I got a bruised kidney from a motorcycle wreck, but it was noticeable right away........ I couldn't walk and was pissing blood.

That was my thought, should be noticeable right off.
Honestly, I have a bad back, and hanging upside down did wonders for me. I swear my back is better for having been in the wreck.
Just can't help but wonder as the timing is pretty close.
Seriously it was pretty gentle, the undergrowth slowed me down. I didn't hit any big trees until the end and that barely dented my bumper. All glass was intact, but front windshield was cracked. Most of the gnarly stuff came from the rather difficult recovery of the vehicle.
I've seen many auto claims with some internal injuries. As already said, generally they show up pretty quickly. But it is a possibility, would depend on the injury, severity, etc... Regardless, hope you feel better.
Disclaimer....I'm not a doctor and don't play one on TV

+1 on this.
In a auto accident I had years ago no external injury I had my pelvis shift out of alignment about 15 degrees, no external injuries. So internal damage is a possibility.
I was in a wreck and did not really feel all that bad. A day later I felt like I had gone a round with Mike Tyson. . . . . ok more like 10 seconds with Mike tyson. . Anyway, I went back to the ER and explained the accident in more detail and got a complete re examination. The re examination found a broken pelvis above my left hip sockett.
I would go get checked out by a doctor that specializes in trauma not a GP. If nothing else in your life has been different other than the accident logic says your internals got bounced around more than you may think.
Seriously don't muck around with this get your self checked out!!!
SOMEBODY's gonna get a CT Scan.
Definitely keep getting checked. It may be something totally unrelated, but even for a normal sickness, that is far too long. I hear horror stories from my wife about people that wait too long for help, and it is not pleasant.
Keep after your doctor to find the answer. And don't be afraid to ask him for a specialist referral or a second opinion.

This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
know a guy who did not make it after a minor internal injury was not taken care of and he developed severe complications. Granted it was more than 2 months later, but the guy went from feeling pretty ok to dead in 3 days. I dont know too many details other than it was a moto-x crash at a pretty decent clip.
I dont mean to frighten, only to instill urgency. Good luck, get better soon, and I hope youre back behind the wheel asap!
I mean this in the nicest way.
GET TO A DOCTOR NOW!!!!!
It could be just a virus or you are getting a cold. Either way get it sorted. I played hero with my health when I was younger and it is a really dumb thing to do. Yes I am probably over reacting but best to be alive and made fun of. The alternatives really suck.

Hmmm... while I don't think the two are related, I do think you need further workup. You didn't mention liver enzymes being tested (AST/ALT, GGT, Amylase and Lipase, Bili (conjugated and non). I'd at least have a GI (gastro-intestinal) Dr. and an Infectious Disease Dr. consult on you. You probably need a MRI of your abdomen to rule out any injury... do you have any bruising around your waist from your lapbelt?
Yes, go get worked up pronto! Your liver is doing funny things.. you might "just" have gallstones, or pancreatitis, but you need to be worked up further. Peeing bilirubin is NOT normal.
You aren't looking yellow tinged in your eyes are you? (signs of jaundice).
Normal disclaimer.. I'm not a doc (but am a RN in a Peds ICU), this is NOT medical advise, but rather friendly help. No diagnosis can be made from my posts.

It's also not unknown to lose a bunch of your natural immunity to things when you have a trauma or go into shock. (I'm not a Dr. either but a friend was researching this stuff -- his question was, if you're immune before the shock and you're immune after you recover from the incident, where the heck does your immunity go in between? Meaning, literally, where in your body do your invader-fighting cells disappear to? The last time we talked, he knew a lot of places they DON'T go to.)
So you could just be the victim of a virus you could have shrugged off otherwise.
But definitely keep asking questions until you get good answers.
You need a second opinion quick! Night sweats is your body working overtime trying to fix something.
Go today!!!
Still trying to get past the front desk gestapo to get into the doc.

originally did:
comprehensive metabolic panel
lipase
amylase
hemagram and differential.
Got a voice mail that those results came back and they order more tests, have not heard any results from that. Frustrating not actually talking to anyone.
I swear as I'm typing this, my mother just called me to say they'll doctor will get me in. She's a former nurse, and a friend of nurse in the practice and called her directly. Don't actually have an appointement yet.
Something is wrong with the medical system when a 36 yo has to have his mom pull a favor from an old coworker to see a doc.
No real change in symptoms since my first post. Feel bloated. Generally like crud. Still haven't eaten anything beside a few breadsticks and some jello over the last week. Night sweats, occasional headache. Concentration is starting to suck. Gets worse as the day progresses.
OK, doode, get momma or someone else to put you in the car and bring you down to the ER now. Not in an hour, not when you get an appointment. NOW.
If you can't see the doctor by tomorrow, I think I would check myself into a hospital via the emergency room.
Edit: Me and the doc both had the same thought at the same time.
On my way for more tests
Negative for hep a,b and c, but doc says it's behaving like a viral hep.
He does not think there is anything related to the wreck.
don't muck around waiting for the system to start working the way you need it to, do whatever you need to in order to make the system serve you. if you're still reading these replies from anything other than a smartphone, an iTouch, or a laptop mooching off of the hospital's WiFi, then you're not where you need to be and need to grab your keys, grab your jacket, and get to the ER as soon as you can. things other than pee are in your pee, this is not supposed to happen and is an indication that something is wrong. get it checked out, get it treated, get better, and do not stop pursuing it until you feel better and the tests confirm it. and then schedule a follow-up visit a bit later to make sure you actually are better.
When I crashed the FV ~90mph into a tire wall I had to go to medical. They were pissed that I didn't go to the bathroom before my race because the belts can puncture your bladder and you start leaking on the inside. Also, if your belts weren't all the way tight the impact can cause some internal bleeding. She didn't like me drinking some water a fan gave me because if I was leaking or bleeding the water would make it worse....It was like 96 degrees in August....I kept drinking it until she ripped it out of my hand.
Just my experience. Get it fixed and back out there!
Good Luck,
Steven
Been to the doc's and back. I won't implode or explode. More tests and another appointment in the morning. No physical injury. Something viral is kicking my butt. They appear to be on top of it.
Sucks you are sick but I am glad it apears to be "Just a Virus"
All the best!!!! Get well!!!

Well, I'm glad there's a nurse involved! Yes, I can't tell you how many times I feel the medical system really fails those in need... I don't think my MIL would've survived her heart infection if I hadn't been an advocate for her, and transferred her to another hospital... but I digress.
Total longshot here... did you get a tickbite from your foray into the woods? Have someone look over your scalp just to make sure there's not one hiding there. Your symptoms are vaguely like Lymes or Rocky Mtn fever (which is caused by a tick bite). Any strange rash or rings on your skin anywhere?
Glad they're on top of it, AND you're being seen. Viral is better than something organic, BUT, get into the hospital if your sysmptoms get worse... lack of urine, chestpain, yellow whites of your eyes, SEVERE headaches with a stiff neck, or if something "just doesn't seem right."
Rest up! As an aside... what happened to your car? Did they extract it ok?
Marc
Glad you do not seem to be all busted up!
My brother in law ruptured his spleen skateboarding several years ago, he thought it was just a big bruise. He was sitting at a campfire that night and passed out, he just keeled over. His friends got him to the hospital and the docs said he probably would have been dead by morning if they hadn't.
A friend was coming back down the Dragon at night, not doing anything nuts just going home and went off. When he crawled out of his upside down TII RX7, a snake bit him on the hand. So 4Msfam could be on to something for sure.
