On the Friday and Saturday of the Classic Motorsports Mitty, GT Radial will host a test-drive experience at the Road Atlanta test track. Participants will get to sample three different tires from the brand: the extreme-performance Champiro SX2, the ultra-high- performance Champiro HPY, and the ultra-high-performance all-season Champiro UHPAS. Ran a set of the uhp's on my s197 did good with spirited mountain use but tore apart after one session on track. Good tires for street use for sure. I wouldn't mind trying the sx2's

This should be fun--and educational.

Maybe they want to be shaved for track use?

I saw the ad for the performance model in the last magazine, and I was wondering if they were any good. I thought they were just the cheapo brand that Discount Tire sells, but they looked pretty nice in the pic! I'm interested to hear people's feedback after this event.

I'm curious about the Champiro SX2, looking forward to a test of it vs. the tires we already like.

I see their tires on semis all day long and I've got to say I replace them the second most for sidewall blowouts; right behind sailuns.

In reply to iadr:

The VP1 is the only one for my car and at 420AB, I'll pass.

That said, on the subject of Chinese tire I have had good and bad. My used civic came with a new set of BCT S600's. The best I can say was it was a set of new matching tires. As far as grip it did fine for street use, but absolute E36 M3 for autoX(I only took it to 1). One was replaced after one summer due to a sidewall bubble, and the other 3 were bald before the end of the second.

The 1 with the sidewall bubble was replaced by a Hemisphere. I bought it on grounds of being the cheapest tire with a 2 ply sidewall. It is wearing well and didn't kill me being one no season on the back mixed with 3 good snows. That will become a full size spare and I'm planning on a new set of 4 once things melt.

I will agree that goodyears are junk, seems like all their good stuff is WAY overpriced and the more sanely priced items are really old designs or are not as good as the competition at the same price. GSD3s and MTR w/ Kevlar are good examples of good tires at HIGH prices. While the wrangle RT/S, HP, LS2 , and Eagle RS-A are examples of less expensive tires that are old designs and not as good as the competition. That said I have had luck with the duratracs, more agressive than most a/ts not quite an M/T and decent tire, not ridiculously priced.

Michelin. A properly selected michelin is almost always a good choice if it fits the budget. I read a few years ago they had won 4 times as many JD power awards as the rest of the industry combined, and all my experience with them and ive never doubted that claim.

as far as Champiro goes, for the most part around here I only see the cheap entry level stuff and my experience with them leads me to believe they are probably as good as its competitors in its price range/ I am interested in the SX2, I've never seen it and ill be looking forward to results IF they have a comparison to other tires in its category.

I got a nice hat and a free spin in someone else's cars, so my thoughts are all positive. No tortured squealing from any of the three compounds. The high performance compound was the only one I coned on, anticipating a little understeer and clipped a cone with the rear tire.

Smallest thing they make is a 17".

I actually came here seeing if the Champiro SX2 RS were any good on the track. I do endurance racing and was hoping maybe they would be a cheaper verison of the RS4's.

My buddy actually runs a Pro Formula Drift team and does well with them but thats compairing bananas to steaks. One round and everyones rears are replaced.. Anyone run these on Champs or Lemons?

I may just do my own test this December at Road Atlanta and see if he'll just donate a pair.

There are faster tires then the RS4's but consitency is more important to me.
