the right exhaust for this car is Cattman, hands-down. It's what everyone wanted back in the day ;)

Rusted in half before the muffler is pretty good too if you're on a budget.
World's latest bump....but it looks like I will be acquiring this car very soon since I've gotten rid of some cars. Do any people tune the ECUs on this car? It seems like they are all available for the 3.5L engines but not the 3.0L

at least back in the day, not much in off-the shelf tuning out there for them. Best gains on the engine are from a Y-pipe (+10-15 IIRC), which eliminates the pre-cats (so- check your emissions inspection if you have one). The stock tune is actually pretty good according to dyno charts I've seen. They were not "tuned for emissions" really. The DE-K has the variable intake, so already 30hp up on the regular DE from the 98-99 car, which is essentially the same engine otherwise. Don't get an Injen CAI, they suck on this car. If you want intake growl (and maybe a few HP gains), the hot one back in the day was made by Berk Technologies (it's a short-ram) with a dry filter (I had an Apex'i).
Also popular were underdrive pulleys.
Best mod you could do is a 5-speed swap ;) The 5-speed in these cars is very smooth and shifts great.
The HID headlight assemblies from the 02-03 Maxima are pretty close to a direct swap, with some minor wiring, if you want better headlights.
Get some Infinity G35 wheels (18") and better tires, espeicaly if this one still has Potenza RE92s (the OEM tire), which are AWFUL.

Guess it's good to know all I really need to do is a Y-pipe on this thing.
there are probably things I'm forgetting....it's been a long while and I was more interested in suspension and brakes than I was in power at the time.
Speaking of....IIRC Eibach pro-kit was the spring setup of choice, with Tokico Illumina shocks/struts. Mildly lowered it, evened out the stance and got rid of the revers rake.

Being it will be my beater/daily, I like the 4x4 ride height so I can over crap roads effortlessly, but I may look into that.
