Race 2 starts in a few hours. Predictions?

I say Ferrari 2-3 outgun Vettel (or put him into the wall), and Massa has to take team orders to move over so Alonso can win. Kimi will charge back from his lame penalty for 3rd. Hammy 4th. Sutil 5th?

I predict I will be passed out drunk by then and will watch the dvr tomorrow

This is shaping up to be the first time I've paid attention through a full season, pretty cool. Not enough people seeding the torrent yet, this is gonna take forever!

In this instance, Team orders would have given Mark the win. It was Vettel deliberately rejecting team orders that cost Webber the win. Vettel is a terrible cock.

I wasn't surprised, and will bet, despite Webber having followed the same orders in the past, nothing will happen to Vettel for his insolence.

This is not the first time that NuShumi has "Flouted team orders" cough and screwed his team mate. It had to have been done with the tacit permission of the team principal. "Mark, shut down your engine" was actually code for SV(Ok Seb, He's all yours now) MW should realize by now that only winning matters. SV obviously does... Crying about his team mate to the smirking CH won't win him the WDC or a bigger paycheck. He's running out of time, and needs to stop being a Gentleman. I'm gutted for him though.

Vettel apologises after ignoring team orders
Sebastian Vettel pulled no punches Sunday in a grovelling apology for unfairly overtaking Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber to win the Malaysian Grand Prix, bluntly admitting: "I f***ed up." The frank statement, during a tense press conference featuring both drivers, did little to appease the emotional Webber, who led into the closing stages and had been told by his team that he could cruise to victory with Vettel second.

Instead, Vettel ignored team orders and plunged past his team-mate with a risky overtaking manoeuvre, snatching his 27th grand prix and denying Webber his 10th.

"I cannot say much more than I did a mistake, I'm not proud I did it. If I had the chance to do it again I would do it differently," Vettel said.

He added: "When I came back I saw the team's reaction and I had a short word with Mark, it hit me quite hard that, I f***ed up."

However Vettel, Formula One's youngest ever three-time world champion at 25, stopped short of pledging that he would make amends by handing a victory to Webber if given the chance.

For Webber, who has played second fiddle to Vettel as the 25-year-old German won the last three world championships, his team-mate's behaviour was galling after orders were issued over the team radio.

"The team rang up and said the pressure is off now, you need to look after the tyres until the end, basically don't fight each other. I turned the engine down... Emotions obviously are probably not the best at the moment," said Webber.

Formula One teams often issue orders to their drivers to desist from competing with each other in order to avoid mishaps once both teammates are well placed.

Mark Webber said there will be no repercussions for Sebastian Vettel after disobeyed an order not to pass him during the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Vettel was running behind Webber in the final stint of the race when he passed Webber for the lead, going on to win.

“I was controlling the race and getting everything in place really towards the back end of the race. Obviously I had to make Lewis off a little bit in the middle there.

“After the last stop obviously the team told me that the race was over and we turn the engines down and we go to the end. I want to race as well but in the end the team made a decision which we always say before the start of the race is probably how it’s going to be. We look after the tyres, get the car to the end.”

“In the end Seb made his own decisions today and will have protection as usual and that’s the way it goes.”

Christian Horner said: “I’m not quite sure what he means by that,” when asked about Webber’s remarks.

Horner confirmed the drivers had been told to hold position after the final pit stop: “For us the most important thing for us was to win this race. We’ve done that, we’ve achieved a one-two finish. We gave strict instructions to both cars after the final stop.

“Of course Mark’s going to be aggrieved by it but the instructions were clear, they were clear for all to hear, and the drivers have taken it into their own hands.”

Vettel refused to be drawn on the subject following the podium ceremony, saying: “I think obviously it’s very hot today and if there’s something to say we need to talk internally.

“For sure I think we both enjoyed that. Of course I’m standing in the middle now so I enjoyed the podium a little bit more. But I think we have plenty of time to talk about.”

Team advisor Helmut Marko said the situation “got out of control”:

“It was Christian [Horner] who said we have to look after the tyres and stay in position,” he added. “But then I don’t know how… he was immediately behind him and then there was a race and at this stage you can’t talk to race drivers.”

“The team will have a word because we have to control the drivers. It’s not like at Mercedes where it’s clear number one and number two, basically we treat the drivers the same.”

Agreed with you on Webber/Vettel. Webber slowed like ordered, Vettel ignored. Had Webber not slowed there's no way Vettel would have gotten around.

Team orders suck for Rosberg, who was faster than Hammy.

Team orders also suck for Alonso, who should have gone in for the wing.

Hindsight is 20/20. Honestly, I thought it was a good idea at the time, too. He was holding off Webber with a broken front wing for almost and entire lap without any sign of impending complete failure. Assuming he could make the wing last another lap or two without losing 100 positions, he would have been in the catbird seat with an early change to softs.

As it happens, a wing failure doesn't usually end with the wing under the teatray, either. I'm assuming he thought he could make it back to the pits even after the wing fell off. Either way, bad luck prevails.

It's time for Webber to take the gloves off. The next time wait until Seb is a couple of seconds behind before he turns down the power, and if Seb comes over on him again...just hold his line and whack the kid, don't pull over. If it means taking both cars out, so be it.
