Well, it's a Toleman-Bennetton-Renault-Lotus... Sort of.

It's amazing to think of all the great drivers that have driven for that team in its many guises.

Great to see Kimi and Lotus back with a win!

Alonso came through by driving his arse off and Vettel was awesome - with a little help from the mid-field follies. From pit lane to podium should give a few of his detractors something to think about.

You have got to hand it to Kimi. To come back and do so well in such a short time. Too bad the same can't be said about Michael Schumacher. Great race though and a good season overall.

While there was some skill shown in his battle with Button, it still took DRS to get the pass done. Aside from that one, Vettel did not pass anyone of note. Pit strategy, luck, and two safety car periods all played in his favor.

While he did move up 21 positions, 7 of them were due to failures, and at least 10 of them due to pit strategy.

Vettel is good, there are drivers on the grid who are better. I would rate Alonso, Hamilton, and perhaps Raikkonnen higher than Seb Vet.

I enjoyed hearing Kimi tell his team people bluntly and repeatedly to stop pestering him over the radio and let him drive.

No sort of about it- the Lotus part is name only. Being bought over time.

No relation to the Lotus of '87 at all.

Conrats to the team though- Kimi drove really well, especially with Fernando closing at the end. And good for Renault after Red Bull tried to make them look bad earlier in the weekend.

As much as I hate Red Bull, man that was a plan and drive for Vettel. Aided a lot by the two safety cars, but gotta execute, and they sure did. If not for that, Alonso would be way out in front with two races to go.

I loved Kimi's post race interview, no emotion at all, but he did admit there would be a good party and they'd feel bad tomorrow !

How about Seb dropping the F bomb in the post race interview? So much for time delay censorship. Apparently Kimi has become almost legendary in his partying, much like the rock stars of the 70s.

Yessir! 1976 World Driving Champion James Hunt. I hope Ron Howard doesn't screw up the film..Hunt & Lauda were rivals, but they were really good friends. They were actually roommates for awhile when they were both in F2 IIRC.

Aside to Rusnak_322: Thanks for the Kimi picture! I'd forgotten he'd done that until you posted it up!

Call it whatever you want, but if you stuck Vettel in Massa's red rocket, took away his precious Adrian Newey, and the Austrian fizzy drinks money, you'd have another Massa.

Maroon, look at the record books. How many records does Vettel have? Most of the youngest. Youngest points scored (not with red bull). Youngest race winner Youngest champ. Probably youngest pole.

How many wins? Poles?

Now look at weber. What did he do before be had Vettel as a teammate?

He is on track to be the greatest. He is young enough to smoke Ralph Schumachers brothers records.

The thing I like about him is that he seem so normal. He doesn't have someone like Fazio as a manager, he doesn't care about money to the point that he has to threaten to leave months before his contract is up. He is also reported to be hugely generous to his team.

Still, I root for Kimi and Schumacher before him every week.

Heck, even the worst driver in F1 is still a badass driver. I enjoy watching the sport as a whole and don't really cheer for one driver over the other. However I do find Kimi more amusing than the others.

It's good to see Kimi win one, and I hated to see Hamilton's car give out again. They would have had a good battle!

Yep, the before-he-was-castrated-by-his-team and the before-nearly-getting-killed, Massa.

I'm OK with that.

Record books don't tell the whole story. He's a good driver, I'm not saying he isn't. He wouldn't be in F1 if he weren't a good driver.

What I am saying is Newey can build a hell of a car. If I had the money to have my own team, the first person I would hire is Adrian Newey. The second person I would hire is Fernando Alonso.
