Here is what I know - all first hand experiences
- A completely stock 2021 F150 XLT with a 3.5 will do 13.5@100 in the quarter with 93 octane in the tank.
- A 2021 F150 XLT with the following modifications will go 12.0@115 in the quarter.
- Livernois tune
- Cat-back exhaust
- Uprated Intercooler
- Remove air cleaner element, all stock airbox and piping
- 93 octane
12 flat is fast enough to embarrass most things on the street, and the relatively low MPH tells you that you are getting there pretty fast!
The 21+ ECUs were locked until just recently, with only Livernois having the access to recalibrate them. 4 or 5 months ago 5 Star Tuning got access, and Cobb has a tune now too but you have to send your ECU to them for the initial setup. For my money I would go with 5 Star as they are the big names in the Ford gas truck tuning world.

No wonder pickups are so expensive now. They're nuts. As fast as a sports car, luxurious as a Cadi and can still tow and truck things.

Having seen what the programmers do, if he's going to have the vehicle for a short time, it could be a plan. An expensive one, potentially. They all make some odd changes to make power, that are very detrimental to reliability.
What's your opinion of the ford racing tune?

In theory, it should be better, since they would have access to what can be changed in the most reliable manner. But I don't really know much about it.

I crossed through Death Valley in June and the manufacturers were all over the place.
Towing loaded trailers of steel or water barrels. Parked them at hotels at night.
