I'm trying to expand my wheels selection. I'm looking for a 17" wheel. I know Ford Mustangs use a 4x4.5" wheel pattern, anyone else?

Thanks

5 x 4.5 (aka, 5 x 114.3) is probably the most popular bolt pattern there is.

I suppose I should clarify. I'm looking for 17"x7 or 8 and around a 4" backspace.

Letsee, I did this very search before... I came up with the following incomplete list:

Ford Mustang

Ford Crown Vic

Mazda FD RX-7

Mazda Protege5

Mitsubishi 3000GT

Nissan 300ZX

Nissan 350Z

I think the current and previous gen Honda Accord are 5x4.5" too.

Just about anything FWD is going to have too much offset; so will most RWD imports. Mustangs, Jeeps, and Crown Vics will be your best bet in that size.

DaimlerChrysler pulled an evil one with the new LX platform cars; they're a 5 x 115 mm bolt pattern. Just close enough that you can get the 5 x 4.5" wheels, which have a long history with Chryslers, to physically fit, and not close enough to drive without major vibration issues. It's a repeat of the A-body 5 x 4" not quite matching 5 x 100 mm all over again.

The 94-04 Mustang 17s are 8" wide with about 6" backspace. The newer ones have more.

BTW, what's this supposed to go onto?

Look at wheels made for classic Ford muscle... Galaxies, Fairlanes, Mustangs and the like. A 17x8 or 9 in that size should have around 4 inches of backspacing, but of course your only choices will be aftermarket stuff.

5-lug Toyota pickup and 5-lug 240SX also fit this bolt pattern.

4" is some wonky backspacing, though, especially in a 17x8. What's this going on?

That's some great info guys. Thank you. I was looking at some Dodge Magnum wheels on ebay that went for a good price but doing some researched brought up the 5x114.3 vs. 5x115 discussions. I've seen pictures of the LX wheels on a 5x4.5 (5x114.3) vehicle without problem. I didn't want to risk it plus 7" is really too narrow for the tires I have (245-50-17). I need to find a 8" wheel. What year Crown Vics had 17" wheels? any 17x8?

You'll just have to see what it is going on

GM did it too. many grand ams and grand prix, (w bodys?) from the 90's had the 5x115 bolt pattern.
