So, last time I switched from plastic fuel lines to metal lines was the Merkur- that time I just had AN fittings welded to the fuel pump hanger and fuel rail and used all AN stuff in between.

On the BRZ I'm trying to keep things stock-ish at both ends but need to eliminate the plastic lines that run under the car and replace them with metal.  I'm planning on nicopp hard lines for that part.

The question is the ends- this car, like every other modern thing, has quick disconnects on the lines.  Is the answer to use something like this with an AN line attached to it? -6AN to 3/8" push on fitting.  I don't love that because it seems like a two connections where I only need one, are there other options?

There is a die set for flaring tools that puts the correct flare on the hard pipe so you just push on as original. I will look at the shop set at work later today and confirm if we have it.

I have to check the line connections but that may work for some of them- it also has to pass through a bulkhead so maybe a bulhead fitting with the push-on flare would be best?

I just looked at our Mastercool set. The spaces in the case fo push on connections are empty. Three sizes indicated, and the instructions are there, but Frank never bought those dies. Bummer, because I think we're gonna need them soon too!

I have a Mastercool flaring tool that does what you need (as well as a bunch of stuff I've never figured out). It would take a lot of AN fittings to overcome the cost, but you'd be set for life for every conceivable flare you'll ever need down the road.

Quick connect dies in bottom left of the case.

You can get them from sellers on eBay for competitive prices.

The three rounds by the case handle hole are used with the three squares ont the bottom left. Those spaces are empty on the otherwise similar case we have, located quite near to the OP as well. I am going to investigate/instigate buying the missing dies.

Is this for a rule thing?

I sorta like the plastic line... And it SEEMS (I'm no expert) like a plastic line would possibly be better than a metal line in terms of getting a rock hit or something.

Sort of- rules say if you run lines through the interior they must have a metal casing.  I want to run the lines through the interior because under the floor is a dumb spot regardless of what they're made of.

At this point I'm leaning towards disregarding my fear of extra connections and just using the AN adapter things and remaking the lines.

My Master cool kit does both GM and Ford fuel lines and AN flare.

I've used GM to AN adapters for fuel filters in my race cars in the past.  I used the ones that have a threaded horse shoe not a plastic clip.

Like theses but not this brand i think they were Erals.

Having re-plumbed a few vehicles now with mostly AN fittings, honestly those things are great.  They seal really well, stay decent looking / non-crusty, and also come apart pretty easily when you need to service something.  The hardest part for me was getting the push-lock style hose on the fittings, which I found to be basically impossible until I discovered (and paid for) the Koul Tools kit for push-lock stuff.  Pricey, but it pays for itself if you're doing a bunch of plumbing.
