I'm too old to get commissioned as a USAF or USN fighter pilot, and not rich enough to buy an Indycar.

If I get used to the speed of my shifter kart, what's the next step up? I'd be looking for something that changes direction more violently and accelerates harder - more decisions/minute.

Obviously the 250 superkarts with aero and twice the hp would do it.

Interesting question, I found a site that had shifter karts in the 1:40 range at lacuna seca, Superkarts at 1:24

Then Hello All,

I thought people on this forum might be interested in seeing the laptimes i was able to achieve in all the 69 different cars on this game around the Laguna Seca track. All laptimes below are with the stock setup, no tuning at all.

I use a controller and assists i have on are TCS and ABS only. I ran each car for 5 laps in time trial mode noted down the time. I hope this helps people in comparing what each car is roughly capable of.

Here are all the laptimes for all 69 cars around Laguna Seca, from fastest to slowest separated into classes.

I have begun testing Road America now same deal. 5 laps each track stock setups no tuning.

i will start a new thread here and on my team site PTG for Road America.

To get up to date Laptimes of Road America and my quick overview of the cars tested at Laguna Seca in all 69 cars please go to my PTG team site. You will find a a large friendly community, with tuning help, controller and wheel setting help, hot lap challenges and competitions/series.

If you are too old to join the USAF, chances are you won't get bored with a shifter kart---- at least a big-bore one. F1 and Indycar drivers use them to keep sharp in the off-season. There isn't much that compares. (at least not on a mortal's budget)

If you like playing in the dirt, and have to walk bowlegged to make room for your massive cajones. The World of Outlaws may be the place for you! Those guys make the rest of the racing world look like an elderly lady's bridge game.

However a quicker lap time probably doesn't mean much as far as how violently they accelerate and turn. The kart is going to be top speed limited that will really kill it in a full size road course

Maybe have a chat with 914driver about flying gliders? I was a passenger in one once and it scared the holy E36 M3 out of me.

Edit: I should add the pilot was trained in the German AF. I never knew a glider was so maneuverable.

Is the superbike or a 600 HP atom really faster?

I'm not seeing the physics of anything out accelerating it (0-60) that isn't AWD and some fancy traction control. once you get going and the kart starts having issues from bad aerodynamics I could see it, but not before that.

Same with turning, I can't see a superbike turning as well, but I don't know anything about bikes

Even the "Midget" cars are incredibly entertaining.

Speaking of, when is one of you going to go to Tulsa (my hometown) and cover the largest, most insane indoor dirt track race in the world? 5 days of racing and typically 325+ entrants. This year was the first year I've missed in nearly a decade.

Supermodifieds would probably be entertaining, too. The power to weight and downforce of a sprint car, but pavement under the tires. I bet that gets the side loads going.

Supermodifieds are something else.

I was gonna say a sprint car as well.

Neither are cheap by any stretch of imagination though.
