The idea of a FWD flatbed tow vehicle seems kind of sketchy to me though. Not sure why, just does.
We've had this conversation before, but I honestly don't remember how it ended .
really I was just thinking about it when towing a trailer (as noted in the post). Some abstract thought that the drive wheels being somewhat unloaded if the tongue weight was high, etc etc....
clearly though I wasn't thinking about the FWD campers (of which my uncle has the one pictured above sitting in his yard.....and it never struck me that it was FWD).
I see your Citroens, and raise you a Cadillac with a MFin NOBLE!

I like that a lot more than the Olds. The only drawback that I see to the car based FWD haulers, is that most of them have very low ground clearance, that Caddy especially.

Are you going off-roading?
Low ground clearance= low center of gravity. That should be a good thing for towing stability.
I think the concern with very low ground clearance is relating to things like steep driveway, steeply crowned roads, "speed humps," etc. Remember a couple years ago when the presidential limo got high-centered in europe somewhere?
In reply to ShadowSix: my point exactly
Hmmmmmmmmm
Take Avalon... cut at back of front doors..... powered by S/C V6... I wonder if the brakes would be enough?????? and would the transaxle hold up????

Just add airbags to raise the ride height when needed. And drop the rear for loading.

I doubt it. Toyota has never had a reputation for ever-engineering. Quality engineering yes, over no.
