STOP IT RIGHT NOW! There is no way you can prove that every facet of this car is awesome for it's designated segment, and it's a duhmestic to boot.

Oh right, $25k (cdn, so what, $21k american), is too much money. Legit argument is legit /sarcasm

I think I want the orange.

The E-diff doesn't sound like it has too much trouble with working the only real issue is how it cooks the stock brakes. But some new fluid and pads might address some of that.

I am sure Waveloc will have a diff for it, or you can use the existing fiesta diff

I like the green color, after that, no comment.

My sentiments exactly, but I suppose for 98% of the folks who buy the car, it's more than enough.

I think the number is way higher than 98%. If you want to make it look REALLY bad, how about supposing it's good enough for ONLY 90% of the people who actively complain about e-diff setups they've never driven? Because that's my guess.

Ever driven a Focus ST? I have, and its the same setup.

If its just a daily driver, its fine. If you have any auto-x or track intentions, I would much rather have a mechanical LSD.

So there!

But how many people really autocross their car?. And I don't mean people who do it 1-2 times a year for S&G, but people who might actually care and the 'lack' of a 'real' LSD and for who it might actually be an issue? I bet even for a car like this it's way way less than 1%. I know quite a few people with Focus ST's, several of who used to autocross, one guy quite seriously with me back in the mid 90's. Guess how many of them have taken the cars to the track or autocross? Clue, you can count on your fingers after a double amputation. Believe it or not there are tens of thousands of car enthusiast who never ever take their car to the track.

Which is why I said that if you're only daily driving it, its fine. I'm totally aware that these cars aren't intended for the hardcore motorsports market, but just that I personally don't care for these faux electronic LSDs.

I would want to AutoX regularly and track occasionally either ST if I got it. I know there is a Quaif for the normal mk7 fiesta but not sure about the ST

Also I heard today from a dealer that the Fiesta ST is not expected until around the new year?

I didn't really get good pictures of the interior, but I didn't see any problems with the driving position. I've driven my friends Focus ST and don't have any problem with it either.

From the pics it looks better. The Focus ST I was in two days ago was ridiculous. The freaking console seemed like it was two feet taller than the shifter. It was an extremely bad fit for me.

To be honest it's pretty dang rare for a fwd car to come with a real LSD that could handle real course work. One of the very few that ever got that was Dodge's SRT4. Considering the majority of FWD cars come with a completely open diff and most people who DID track their new ST probably wouldnt open it up for a diff upgrade until the warranty is over anyway, i think it's generally just a very good thing that e-diff exists at all.

As someone who flogs an open diff NA6 miata now. I agree I would not let the lack of a diff stop me, and I would assume the E-diff cant be WORSE than an open one? But I would definitely put it on my upgrade list

Why not a GTI? Nicer interior, more power, same price?

Pretty sure the GTI prices with the Focus ST not the Fiesta ST

Definitely not the same price. And having been around VW's and Audi's for half a decade, I'll pass.

A GTi up here is almost $40k... the Fiesta ST will be $25k. Not an insignificant difference. Also, the size of the Fiesta is a bonus. I want a small daily driver. And finally, unless it has changed recently, the 2.0T has always been underwhelming power and mpg wise.

Wow 40k up there for a gti? That sucks they start around 23 k around here

24200 according to VW's website is base for the GTI and that is the on the way out model not the new 2014 one

I was a little off. The "base" GTi is $34k out the door all in. Add any options though and it goes close to $40k.

The Fiesta should be available for about $26k all in. So an $8k difference, not exactly chump change. Slightly better mpg, but on regular gas, almost the same power, way better looking (IMO), 400lbs lighter, etc etc.

I'd love to see the Fiesta ST reviewed by GRM's discerning authors, especially considering they have a Project Fiesta.

A Fiesta ST could be my first new small car. I can't wait to drive one... The right price (for a new small fun car), the right size, and good power.

Doesn't match the other 3 seats as far as the fabric and looks different shape than the driver's seat. As others have said it appears to have been swapped out for some reason.

The problem with adding an aftermarket differential to an otherwise stock car is that it bumps you all the way to street prepared, where it would be far too heavy to be competitive. If both my Sentras could come stock with a Torsen, I would expect any new car with serious sporting intentions to have one too. That disqualifies it for me- shame, I liked the concept.
