Three STis Vermont Sports Car built for the Gumball 3000 rally a couple of years back. VSC is best known for building rally cars, including for one of my heroes, Travis Pastrana

Ask an F-4 pilot who flew in Vietnam about things being declared obsolete, like guns. Besides everyone knows the A-10 is the last real fighter anyway.
I was digging the direction the Weezly Rabbit was headed in...

Really? How many air to air kills do drones have?

No idea but I do know that they can carry the bigger air to air ordinance now with the larger wingspans and powerplants.
They were flying a couple of the no return fuel air bomb ones, minus the bang, around town a while ago over the ocean.

I think the confirmed kill count stands at 0-1 in favor of manned fighters: A Georgian drone was shot down by a Russian MiG-29 shortly before the Georgian Conflict and caught the missile coming right at it. YouTube video here.
In reply to Appleseed: The Warthog is the last real attack plane, not fighter. It's the definition of badass, but not a fighter. The last real fighter was the F-8 Crusader.

How do you figure that the crusader was the last "real" fighter?

Ok, why does that CRX look like it ate a C4 Vette?
Have any of you read the article that goes with that F-Bomb? I know drag racing isn't that popular(except once a year in Gainesville. . . ) around this forum, but that car was truly incredible. I can't remember off the top of my head the shop that did most of the fab work, but the quality and detail were stunning.
IIRC, it got smashed up on its maiden voyage
Oh, and WWII Fighters and Bombers kick arse. "P-51 Mustang, Cadillac of the sky!"

Because the Crusader was the last of the gunfighters, the last US fighter designed around a gun armament rather than missiles. Yes, it carried Sidewinders but it was designed for close-in dogfighting with guns. It was also the last US fighter to have multiple single-barrel guns in place of a rotary cannon like the Vulcan or Avenger.

Holy cow, it's even got a Merlin in it. Protect those bombers, boys...

For effort and engineering, maybe. For everything else, not so much.
I'd give higher marks for something that can actually be driven without the tires going up in smoke at the slightest tap of the throttle.

It's really a self-powered rolling engine stand at this point.

A-10s are flown by fighter pilots. Besides, the Hogs had more areal kills in the first gulf war than the Vipers did. Ha ha.
They are the most evil looking plane ever built. It just looks like something that would rain death on entire villages,
Here's one of the coolest military paint schemes I've seen. The owner of Hot Lap Motorsports (GRM advertiser) owns, and runs this beast. It's called the "War Machine"
