Well actually it's a truck. I'm 32 and I've never bought a new vehicle, but our 2005 F250 was getting pretty crusty and SWMBO didn't trust it to haul horses long distance anymore after the brake lines blew out last fall.
Enter the 2015 F350 diesel, super cab, 6 3/4 bed and a few extra bells inside (upfitter switches and such). Taking delivery next week once they install running boards. Even at 6'2" getting in without running boards is a bit of a chore.

Yup, that makes it all worth it:

So long Brodozer, you've been a faithful companion. I'm sure nobody will want you at the auction block thanks to your fault-laden 6.0 heart.

I'm sending him off today with a final trip to the scrap yard and then picking up a couple yards of mulch. Might pick up a new dishwasher tonight too.
nice truck - I think it's okay to buy a new truck and run it 12-15 years. The wife and I have been married over 28 years and she has only bought 2 vehicles the entire time.
Happy Wife, Happy Life.
Now I know someone who is the type of person to buy an extended cab in this day and age :p
Also, ford still has the suicide door extended cab? GM and Dodge went to 4 door extended cab (with small rear doors) due to nvh. Anywho...
No work done on the 6.0. Its a liability waiting to happen.
We get extended cab for our dogs. No need for the full crew cab as they just make for a long truck. They're suicide doors still.
Colour me jealous. That's exactly the truck I'd buy if money were no object. Since our truck sits 95% of the time and only gets used for dump, farmer's co-op and horse towing runs it's hard to justify buying new. I'm in the same boat as you in that I tow a gooseneck horse trailer and need the longer bed but don't want the length that comes with a full four door cab. The passengers are riding for free so why should I worry if they're comfortable?
4wd on the fly through a vacuum system. If it fails I can get out and manually lock the hubs.
Good feeling isn't it? I'm about 30 min from picking up the FR-S.

I can't wait to see pics.

Nice truck! I'm a lifelong car guy, and my first new vehicle was also a truck. I was originally going to go for a used beater, then realized how much it would suck to break down towing or hauling. I still have the truck 11 years later, and it has been the best overall vehicle I've owned. Trucks also seem to hold their value better long term than cars.
The best part about it is the peace of mind knowing SWMBO can go anywhere and not have to think about the truck breaking down. I can't say the peace of mind is worth the purchase price (they ain't giving away diesel pickups), but the 860lb ft of torque at 1,600rpm is pretty damn addictive.
