Finally got my new wheels on!!!!

Yeah the pics are kinda crappy but I wanted to post them up. Ignore the tire size in the back, I had bought to matching 215/40/17's to go with the two good used ones that came with the wheels, unfortunately the shop I had take them off broke the beads and I didn't inspect them well enough until we were about to put the tires on the wheels.

Thankfully the guy that bought my SSR's had some tires to get me by (225/45/17 to put out back), so I'll probably just go ahead and run this "set" of tires until next spring then buy a sticky set of 235/40/17's to put on the car.

17's look a bit big on that car, but thats a nice E30

Sorry to be a party pooper, but the SSR Comps on the car previously were perfect.

I liked the SSR's as well. But, the correct tire size as far as OD for the car, 225/45/16 has two choices; Hankook RS-2 and Toyo R1R. 205/50 isn't much better and is more sidewall than I like the look of.

Step up to a 17" wheel and the bad boy street tire choices abound in widths greater than 205-215.

This is what the car looked like with the 16 x 7 SSR's and 225/45.

I got to agree with chknhwk , I like both sets . Really a nice looking car .

I much prefer the SSR Comps. The 17s (at least in the pics) make the car almost look "donk" (or is it "bonk" if it's not a boxy Caprice?). Makes me want to seek out a clean E30 though - that's a pretty car you've got there.

I have to say I'm loving the black 17's.

With that stance and those wheels, it screams "touring car" for me. I think it looks excellent.

That's the precisely the look I was going for. And the only 17s I've found that are lighter than these are SSR's, and they don't make a 4 x 100 17 x 8 as far as I know.

At one point I almost went with Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 in an 18 x 8 to run 225/35/18, that would have been uber touring car, but OK roads wouldn't have been that friendly to 35 series tires, or the wheels underneath.

In the case of a German car, I think it's "Danke".

I'm down with both sets - the racer in me likes the SSR's, but the evil side of me likes the 17s. Gotta love multiple personality disorder.

The only bad thing about the 17's is how tiny it makes the stock brakes look!

How hard is it to get an e30? I can't find any around philadelphia unless i search 50 to 100 miles away

Hmmm, I would think in the NE it wouldn't be hard. Here in OK, people wanted above book for stock high mileage ones that weren't really all that nice.

I looked for about 6 months before I pulled the trigger on the one I have now, and I had to have it shipped in from Florida. ~1300 miles away, 50 to 100 isn't a big deal at all.

There are a few in New England but it's hard to go in blind on a New England car.
