the q-jet was trashed so i put on a 600 edelbrock and tuned it/timed it and it runs great now.
there was a ton of work done to the car at some point, i know it was painted in 2000 so i would guess most of the new interior stuff was done at that time. they replaced the quarters and the rest of the car is nice and clean.

Good old 'Murrican Iron. I love it. I had a '73 Cutlass that was a sweet car, the same chassis? Yours will be a hit at Cruise Nights.
The 73-77 A-bodies had the same wheelbases as the 68-72s, but I believe the suspensions were significantly changed. (They were also much better looking, especially those 73 Cutlasses. And Kojak's 75 Buick, of course.)

You scared me. I thought that you finally had some pictures from the new Chevelle Cheby was coming out with in 2012 or some such date. I simply couldn't figure out how they'd come up with an acceptable mid-sized solution to be a Chevelle.

Am I the only one who thinks that large wheels with low profile tires look silly on old cars?
I think that patgizz' 72 Chevelle looks better with the 15's and tall profile rubber than the battleship gray '70 in the HRM article.
I know that the "pro touring" trend is all about making big old American cars handle, and I think that's great - but I still think that big wheels/low profiles look silly on old cars.
M030, I agree about lo-pros on muscle cars. It just doesn't look right.
But I don't really care for the "classic" look either. I'd rather see lo-pros all around than see skinny fronts and fat backs on a street driven muscle car.
Patgizz's car has the right look, down to the white letter tires.

not touching wheels or anything, just a little cleanup and detail work and eventually replace some of the deteriorating original parts like lenses and stuff.
normally i'm a 17" wheels on anything guy - i even ran impala SS wheels on my astro van last year - but this car looks so right the way it is. plus the wheels/tires are brand new and had all of 2 or 3 miles on them when we picked it up.
