If you get me a SEMA pass, you can have an almost-30-year-old Acura for challenge money. It's only rated to tow 1,000 lbs, though.
Well, Tim and Tom have begun their adventure--the Craigslisted 1971 Alfa has been acquired, and they looked happy enough on the road:
Gauges look less happy:
Note the oil pressure--sadly, that was at 80 mph. Temp is creeping up, too. Last I heard from them, they'd made it to Las Vegas after buying some motor honey/bearings in a bottle.
I'm thinking I'll see them again approximately never, or they will actually have to stop and fulfill Tom's dream of buying a second E36 M3ter to leapfrog this one across the country. Stay tuned...

My wife would actually love me if I brought that car home....
It would have been pretty optimistic to plan on driving that Alfa across the country even when it was brand new. But doing a fly-and-drive on an old Alfa auction car? That takes a lot of...confidence. We are all pulling for you, guys! Enjoy the drive!
Yeah, it's going to be a fun one--or at least, what the Suddard family considers fun. I'll be updating on this thread on the Classic forum, since this will be a Classic Motorsports project car (assuming it ever makes it home).

If they are already in Vegas then sadly this has been passed on.

From the ad: "Rear to find"
Is that a statement of desire, or a suggestion of what comes to the owner of that fine steed? Sage words, either way.
You know, that has some appeal: after all, it's also an Italian design, and the Yugo factory now makes Fiats. So it's like the Alfa’s hillbilly cousin--related in too many, and all the wrong, ways.

Tom needs a real Italian Race car.
And I have one.
Just can't drive it home, without some serious pain. But it IS for sale. Next time you are in Michigan....
Tom needs lots of things. A real Italian race car is NOT one of them. So I'm sure he wants one.
