I have an 87 4runner that's hemorrhaging oil out the back of its 22RE. We've narrowed it down to a plate in the back of the head. Its referred to as the "cylinder head plate." I don't know if this is the actual Toyota name.
I can't find this gasket at any local PepVanceZone. The part in question looks like this:
Its the gasket for the blue part. Is this a dealer only item?
Probably have to get just that one gasket from the dealer. I see it in a cylinder head gasket set....
If you can't find a gasket it's probably just an rtv style gasket.
If you get a gasket board. A hammer and scissors goes a long way to a homemade gasket.
My Ford 9in has a coca cola box with rtv on both sides. My step dad used cola boxes for head gaskets back in the day...
The Stincoln has a cereal box gasket for the IAC!
Is that the EGR? Are you positive the oil is coming from there?

Yeah, some paper gasket stuff, exacto knife, tad bit of pookie, you're fixed. Or buy a whole Felpro head gasket set because it comes in that. Or, go to the dealer and ask for a 11182-35050.
Cereal box, some scissors, a hole punch, and some gasket sealant.

I'd just get some "Toyota-bond" and use that, no gasket.
Take that part number that Dr Hess supplied to your local Napa store and have them feed it into the computer. My local Napa is great at finding BMW parts when I give them a part number.
That's the EGR passage, if you've got oil coming from there, you've got bigger problems.
I'd be the half-round rubber cam seal above it or the valvecover o-ring is where the oil is coming from.

The center of that plate also blocks off oil. The half moon grommets would be my next guess if it still leaks.

Seeing how the blue piece is covered in oil, I'd look for the leak to be higher than that .

I find that it is easier to make a hard to get gasket, than to take the time to go to dealer order then return. I have a kit set up. I use bullet shells as diffrent size hole punches.
But where can you find bullet shells these days, Stan? You can't even find loaded ones to shoot to get the empty.
pv, your hotlinked pic only shows the first part of the actual part number. That just says "gasket for this thingie," not the actual part number. For example, 11115 is "head gasket" but could be any of 100 head gaskets without the rest of the part number specifiying "head gasket for 22R motor from this year in this vehicle..." You need the full part number of 11182-35050 to specify the gasket in question here for the vehicle in question. It is a common mistake among newbies in Toyota world to think the number in the picture is the part number.
I have always coated the part in grease then press it down on the cardboard it leaves an outline of the part to make the gasket. Exacto to cut it out. works like a charm especially on complex parts.

Hess, that number didn't work. NAPA was no help, dealer only. Cost something like $13.00. Should be here tomorrow, or in three days.
Yes, I could make my own, but considering were this gasket is on the engine relative to the truck, I only want to do this once. I'd hate myself if I FUBAR'd this one due to my own bad gasket making.
Also, I ran my fingers over the rear half moon cam plug. Not much oil on it. Seemed more like years worth of accumulated road grunge. I'll wipe it down as clean as I can and check it again in a few days.
Sorry for posting in a slightly old thread, but I just came across this. Victor Reinz p/n G31487, should be available at your local AutoZone, that link's to rockauto. You've got to tell them it's the big EGR gasket for an '89-'94 pickup, but it should fit any 22R/RE, the plate never changed.
The only problem is, there's I'm fairly sure there's no oil going through/near that plate, it's an EGR passage and allows access to the coolant chamber in the head, so I don't think it was causing your oil leak. Hope you've sorted it out by now!
