I've been trolling craigslist here in Portland OR for over a year looking for a seat of NB2 seats to replace the ones in my 1999 Miata and haven't seen a single pair at any price. Am I looking in the wrong place or are they really that hard to find?

NB2 wasn't the highest selling generation and held value longest, so they're not being parted out quite as quickly. Maybe?
I'd hit up a Spec Miata shop and see what they're pulling out.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Ooo, good idea. Looks like there's a couple race shops around I could reach out to.

Maybe Dusterdb13 will chim in but I remember that he found covers for his that worked well.
In reply to Stampie :
Funny you say that, I was just looking at his thread about new covers. I'm using the torn cloth on the driver's side seat as a opportunity to upgrade to the supposedly better 01+ seats.
Yup. I built na seats out of garbage na seats with Sierra autotop covers. And extra foam. And....
They work really well. Comfortable enough, and supportive enough.
The nb2 seats i had were rather uncomfortable. The nb1 seats were better, but the na seats are the best by far.
A reshaped NB2 "surfboard" can be quite comfortable. As always, there is a difference in comfort between leather and cloth seats.
I'm also on the hunt for a pair of NB2 seats for our '99. I've seen a few sets with high shipping prices on eBay, and missed one set about 4 hours away off CL. They don't come up often.
It would be nice if someone made a nice street seat that fit properly in Miatas. You'd think there's enough of a market out there.
In reply to Rodan :
Yeah seriously. This car isn't the right one for a race seat, and I'm not about to drop silly money on the Lotus seats.
Check out PrestigeSparesUK on miataturbo; these are the same guys bringing over engines/drivetrain and hardtops from UK and they occasionally list seats as well. I had picked up a nice pair of cloth NB2 seats from them at a decent price right before pandemic. They probably have a FB account as well.
How would I identify NB2 seats?
I have a pair of seats that came in my 2000 NB. They were not original to the car (not sure what they came from). They are not perfect, but I also have a brand new seat of seat covers for them.

Pre-Brexit they were shipping pairs of seats for around $75. I bought my separate headrest "euro MX5" set from them. When I inquired post brexit they said they could no longer ship seats to the USA

On the left.
Can't you just get your seats recovered? Or are you missing seats?
I use early Miata seats in one of my British cars but IIRC they were from the Mk 1 special edition Miata.

Those are leather seats from an NA. First appeared in the 1991 BRG, but available every year from then on.
A nice option for LBCs are the 1995 M seats, which have a separate headrest. Only 3500 sold in the US and the car is considered desirable along with fragile leather, so they're generally not cheap. Miata seats work well in LBCs overall due to their scale.
An alternate to '95M seats are the "euro" seats that Trent had mentioned. For my 10AE I had scored a set of European 10AE seats from EBay with the separate headrests. Those were much more commotion there and you get to pick between leather and cloth.
I think current shipping prices are making the UK sources a little more pricey at the moment, but hopefully that will pass.
I knew the adjustable headrest seats were more common outside North America, but I wasn't aware the 10AE had them. That's a cool piece.
Those would have been nice to see here. Wonder why Mazda didn't bring them over. Probably safety or something
They were used in 1995, so they were legal at least part of the time.
They don't hold a headrest speaker, maybe that was considered a requirement by US product planners.
Apparently, mine are a pair of NB2s.
No major tears, but the leather is pretty worn, especially on the bolsters.
If anyone is looking for a pair in SC or GA, let me know.
