I'm installing a fire system in my track car. The supplied pull cables are a couple feet too long. Should I loop the extra length, or is it ok to remove the inner cable and trim the sheath shorter? If I cut, what's the best tool/method?

Cut to length for sure. I use my Snap On diagonal cutters on both parts. They do get warranteed pretty often
. If you do not have very sharp good dikes use a mini wizz wheel.
Cut off wheel on an angle grinder. Or, take them to a bicycle shop and ask them to cut them.
