It seems from this unless you can get a really good deal on a 17-18 you should just get the 19.

This should not be a surprise. Unless you’re obsessed with the placement of the rear view camera - you would not be alone, there are typical overly dramatic comments being made - the new car is simply the old one with magic fun sprinkles added above 5000 rpm. What’s not to like?

Any word an internal changes to the ND top/bottom end that may make it a better forced induction platform?

New crank, new rods, new pistons, new head, new valve train, new throttle body, new intake and exhaust manifolds. But it’s all for high rpm sparkle. The rods and pistons are lighter, so it may be worse for FI.
And yes, ND1 and ND2 will likely be the terminology of choice.
They're in Canada now. Mazda is saying "fall" for the US, they won't publicly say anything more accurate. I expect we'll see one of the body styles before the other.
Any word of the 124 abarth gt's CF hardtop coming to the ND? Yea i expext the Non RF first then the RF.
Hardtop sales for the NC completely cratered when the power hardtop cars were introduced. Mazda still has a warehouse full of them, apparently. So I can't see that being much of a priority. The market spoke pretty clearly.
That being said, I suspect a 124 hardtop would bolt right on to a Miata.

Our local dealer expects his by mid to late August. Sadly it's not what we are looking for (it's whatever the top of the line is in Canada). We've asked for pricing on a GS-P -- that's the middle package with LSD. I figure everything in the Sport package is on the updgrade list, anyway, other than the seats. But the base seats were pretty swell.

yea that's what i figured. I am still going back and forth on a RF or not. I want to be able to possibly rallycross it in the future.
We have a roll bar for the RF now. It locks the top in place but you can still open the sail panel to put luggage in there.
In other words - it's the coupe everyone claims they really want!

Some of us are holding out for Mazda to make a Miata wagon with a diesel.

With 400hp for 20k
I love that they added the tilt and telescoping, so great for a tall guy like me.
I thought they were getting rid of those chintzy LED lights?

"Man these lights I can't see from inside the car really upset me!"
If the first cars are already in transit, it's annoying Mazda doesn't have a configurator live on the site. I can't wait to go drive one, although the girlfriend has instructed me that she likes the 135i and doesn't want me to get rid of it.
Mazda is trying to protect the resale of the 2018s for as long as possible, I think. It's pretty unusual these days for a new Miata to hit before spring, but the 2018 run was cut short due to the rear camera requirement so they can't wait.
Pricing and packages have not been announced as far as I know. The US packages are changing a bit. The Canadian ones were already different from the US.
