The mission - try a RallyX on a shoestring budget.

FB MP showed a ratty Nissan SER Spec V, really ratty but cheap, $800, needs brakes badly.  Sold

Brake revamp ~$250  - Master Cyl and the basic once over and replace

Spare Wheels - U-Pull it, $100 for nice aluminum factory rims

Tires - Bite the bullet and get some cheap snow tires ~$300 for new

And that is it, registered for an event

Two days before, Ebrake acts up, last minute fix of sticky cable- done

Today was the event, great folks, great fun!!

Me and my junk car finished 6 in a field of 11.  All my fault, lots of dead cones.

I'm hooked, thanks to the great advice from the folks on here, the day was a grand success!

Sounds like a blast!

Did the SpecV's have limited slip diffs?  I had a buddy with one of those when I started rallycrossing, it was a bunch of fun to swap cars during fun runs.

Yes, and it was a big help on the muddy course.
