2000 Honda Civic Si Coupe
The first car that I’m checking out? This Electron Blue 2000 Honda Civic Si. Why? My wife and I bought one brand-new.
Same car, same color. It eventually got some Comptech goodies.
It dutifully served as my wife’s daily for 15 years. She’s still a little bitter that we sold it. Why’d I do such …

And look for the GRM crew on the grounds soon–although exactly which date will be contingent upon the jury duty notice I recently received....
I should note that our 2000 Si didn’t have the wing. I believe that was a dealer-optional piece, right?
The IROC is only acceptable if you wear cut-off jean shorts, cut-off flannel shirt with most of the buttons down, and sport a ridiculous mullet.

I’ll even grow a mustache.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
Yep, the wing was an option along with the fog lights (not installed on the auction car).
My blue 2000 Si was the first car I ever bought with my own money. It was so new when I picked it up that the front lip was wrapped in plastic in the back seat.
With the Comptech intake and header and the Mugen exhaust it was the best sounding car I've ever owned.
If it hadn't been stolen and totaled I might still own it today.
I believe the T/A pictured is a '73 unless they did some Hollywood on it to backdate it.
Edit: they did!
Let me know where you set up. I'm here. I worked for Mecum for 5 days before the auction, helping park cars. Now I'm a customer, selling 2 cars and maybe buying something. I looked at that Accord today, I love it!!
Do you think the Blue Civic Si is memories from the past and might not be the same if you bought it?
In reply to Datsun240ZGuy :
I hear what you’re saying but in this case, I don’t think so. I have a lot of stick time in wishbone Hondas.
In reply to jaball77 :
We had the Comptech intake, exhaust and header and, yes, it sounded awesome.
We picked up ours the day it arrived at the dealer. It was a good car.
In reply to SKJSS (formerly Klayfish) :
Cool to hear the Accord is that good IRL.
I’ll know more about our Mecum plans soon as I have jury duty on Monday.

Dang, looks like I missed out on the Presidential limo: https://www.mecum.com/lots/1137651/2000-cadillac-deville-presidential-limousine/?aa_id=650481-0
Sold for $10,450.
Darn it. I could have done so many things with that.

In reply to A 401 CJ :
If it has a true SD (super duty) motor, its worth more than the car, best motor made by GM in 1973-74, better than what was in a Corvette. 80 psi oil pump, dry sump capability, forged pistons and connecting rods, beefy 4 bolt mains, more horsepower in stock form than was advertised. It was a little known ready-to-race option over the standard 455 which was mass produced in most Pontiacs those years.
Welp, my number didn’t come up, so no jury duty for me.
See you at Mecum.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
Pro tip for anyone reading. Anxiety/Depression and similar meds will get you out of Jury Duty.
Ask me how I know.
Fun article, thanks. Depending how you look at it, it's either unfortunate or fortunate that a disproportionate percentage of nice survivor cars have automatics.
I'll be there on Thursday
Just got back as it’s never a short day there. I didn’t realize they had a ’92 Sentra SE-R on the docket. That was my first autocross car–scored a deal on a brand-new one.
I sat in it for a more than a minute. Chris and Paris have photos.

I test drove a 99 Civic Si in blue, just like the one pictured but went with a 99 Subaru Impreza RS instead because of the AWD thus starting a long line of Subie STi's/Wrx's ownership. Did the 92 SE-R sell? I had a 91 Sentra SE-R.
In reply to Feedyurhed :
Ha, we cross-shopped the Civic Si vs. the Impreza RS.
The Sentra SE-R crosses the Mecum block today. Just 739 miles from new.

Is it actually disproportionate?
I bought some tickets for Saturday. I've never been to one of these big auctions before. I see the ex-Steve McQueen and Jerry Seinfeld Porsche 917 is going across at some point on Saturday.
