Ok so from this thread http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/what-would-grm-do/50355/page1/, it was suggested that I fix the starter on the Benz but to be honest I have no idea what to look for in a starter and where to get parts and etc. So teach me about repairing a starter?
First. is it getting 12 v from the battery. Does the solenoid click ? does the motor run ? Is the starter button/ign switch supply current to the solenoid. On other words, you need to find where is the problem.before you can repair it. Many starter problems are actually the battery terminals, bad contacts in the solenoid. Depending on the type of drive, is that the problem ?
Solenoid clicks but the motor seems to be locked up.
Most of my "starter fixin" involves hitting it with a hammer.
