Heading to harbor freight to buy the cheapest and worst flaring tool ever. It only needs to flare two fuel lines (one on the motor and one on the chassis- both steel). Doing this so I can attached some efi hose. I need the flares so the fuel line will hold on.

The flare tool is like 12.99 and I've got a 25% off coupon. Think it'll last for those? And with steel line?

Bubble flair I presume?

Yes. Unless something else would work?

No I was just checking. I have seen people make a single flair on the end of the line and then wonder why later it cuts through the line.

As for harbor freight flair tools I would go simple is better if there is a selection. The only other thing to look at is with the simple ones that clamp the line and then you use a die to make the flair is to make sure the two half's line up correctly. Any misalignment in the two half's will yield bad flairs.

You may want to see I your local parts store has a free rental program.

Try this link. I know this tool is expensive but I was just looking for a website that would demonstrate the bead roll in the end of the tubing. This is what should be used to ensure the hose stays on the tubing and it won't cut the hose.

Well I guess the link didn't come thru.

Eh I'm not looking to spend a ton. It was this HF tool or AN adapters for a line.

Also needed it today

That $13 kit won't do a bubble flare, it's for making single flares on copper gas lines and whatnot.

Yeah I see that. I was thinking about a "small" single flare. One that doesn't protrude far out, And then filing the edges. Think that would "cut" it?

Easy and cheap way to get a bubble is to just do the first step of a double flare. Perfect bubble for slipping a hose over.

This is how I done it for years. How I have done many fuel lines with no issue.

Yup, rental double flare kit will do it.

Bought the HF double flare kit. Hope for the best.

It will work fine. Just clamp the line into the block with the appropriate stick out. Install the little button deal and flare it down till the button touches the block. Remove tool and you'll have a bubble sufficient to hold a hose well, guaranteed. Even the jankiest HF tool will do that if you make sure and clamp the line plenty tight in the block.

I only install the line with half of the appropriate depth, a full bubble flare is too big to easily slip a hose over IMO. I've damaged the internal braid on fuel line before trying to cram it over a too-large flare.
