Ran across this today. Was last driven 4 months ago, front clip rusty, and interior moldy. She's firm at $1000. Is it worth a flip?

Doesn't seem like much margin for a flip - looks closer to a project that needs everything. Even parting may not give a lot of margin.
Offer half, use as challenge car. That way the repairs don't have to be perfect- but they are doable.
I ain't afraid of rust... unless there's rust perforation up high.
Make like King Arthur and run away.
Parts car.
And the Graduate is possibly the least desirable of the late cars. They were the base model. If they had named them anything else, then nobody would want one.

A boat tail would be a Duetto, which is worth huge $$$. Graduates were the base S3 trim in the 80's. Not worth much.
You could probably double the $1000 parting the car out, but it's basically worthless in that shape whole.
No way, no how, never, fugetabout it, its scrap but not even that good. $500 if it has a fresh engine or gearbox, and she offers to have your children and teach you Italian.
I am far from afraid of rust, but assuming rust starts from the bottom, that has reached the top of the car; that does not leave you much to work with.

Car don't necessarily rust from the bottom up. (Remember late 60s A-body GMs that always rotted out in the rear window corners?) Judging by the paint bubbles, there was prior body damage there that got Bondoed, or there was otherwise some paint defect that caused rust to start there.
But it's been exposed to the elements, and crud and water have been collecting in there, and it's probably all rotted out in and underneath the A-pillar now.
I have seen many alfas rust from the top down. It's not about the ground water keeping the undersides wet, but water channels in the body getting blocked and allowing water to stand inside.
figure that in front of the windscreen of both an alfa and fiat spider is a large tray to collect air for the heating system that requires two small tubes to drain the water, all it takes is a few leaves or pine needles to block them up and start the rot
