If the wife didn't have this problem with breathing at high altitudes I'd have called/submitted my resume already!

If only I wasn't a high school student, and broke I want to get out of this hell hole they call Florida.

Call me when you need an Aerospace Engineer. (One way or another, I am sure you guys will be the first to put a miata in orbit)

You're killing me with the direct comparison... At least it's finally warm here, and it's not actively raining this second, but it is June 22 and... grey.
I have an excellent telephone voice, but although FM phone wrangler from software could be argued to be a lateral move, I have to suspect that a certain decimal point would also be making a lateral move...
Hmmm, think you could find any use for an experienced Technical Writer in that position?
I've done commercial radio work and have been told I have a radio voice as well.
I picked Portland because I visited there a few weeks ago and really liked the city - but the number of rainy days statistic jumped out at me. Do this for a month: every time you step outside and it's raining, say "it's sunny in Grand Junction"
I moved to FM from software myself. Yes, there was a pay cut for sure. But I'm a lot better off than I was in other ways.
I've heard from at least one GRM forum member so far today. And I'll bet Brandon would be happy if we had another technical writer!

Yeah but, we're two hours from our rainy, gray coast! Hrm, that's not necessarily better, is it?
Seriously, the colleges in Oregon aren't that great compared to the rest of the country. OSU isn't bad for technical, etc. OIT is better for tech/mech but is in the armpit of Oregon (Klamath Falls) UO is just about how much money they can get from Nike and other horrible groups. UoP is actually pretty nice, but spendy. PSU is struggling to keep up. The CC's are just as good as elsewhere.
So aside from the three race tracks within a days drive of the Portland, what is keeping you here? Is it the insane bike-centric money hole? The lightrail-centric money hole? The crumbling infrastructure and lack of job creation? If I could sell my house without a loss, I'd seriously consider getting the heck outta dodge!

If Portland is crumbling, then damn... I thought it was the most beautiful city I've ever seen, but that was 4 years ago.
Portland is an awesome city, and once global warming really kicks in will be a great place to live for more than a few months per year!
Grand Junction sounds nice too

If there was a real possibility for me, you would already have my resume.
Can't sell our house until Sept next year.
Tulsa to Grand Junction would be a bit of a commute!
Good luck finding the right candidate.
MAN!!! Why did I just start building a house! LOL You guys would have my resume if that weren't the case. I love working at performance shops, did it for over 5 years.
sigh
Hope you guys find the right fit!!
GRM wisdom prevails again. I made the call today at lunch. I figure if I don't at least try, I will always be wondering "what if". Now I just have to cross my fingers, and hopefully pull my winter coat out of storage...
If I weren't taking care of a sick relative I would be all over this. Seriously. Had a really nice Miata, too!
Damn shame you boys have no need for a swiss machinist, I'd make the move for that.
Go get 'em, Maroon!
Too bad Keith isn't in the business of smuggling Canadians into the states... it'd be like slave labour, but I'd be happy to do it

So if my favored parts-seller moves from Porsche's to Miata's, do I have to sell my 944 for a Miata?

No, you just put an LSx in it and give it a proper German name, like Baron Von Sh!tzengitz

I am honored you would call me that, but you shouldn't have chosen the 944 over the Miata in the first place!!!
I m very interested but, and isnt there always a but, its not the job i was looking for. Something more hands on and you would have my resume faxed and a call in minutes.
Im a bit bummed. Was thinking at work for months how cool a job like yours would be.
Man oh man oh man...
I love miatas, I love Colorado, and while I like what I'm doing now, getting off the east coast has been a goal for quite some time. Hmm... I'd probably have to buy a car again...

For some reason, there's very little turnover in the tech positions like mine. In the last 10 years, one has left and we've hired two The new guy's been here for 5 years.
