Seriously, how can they sell them for such a low price?

In reply to Feedyurhed:
its a domestic hatch with a somewhat uncommon engine option that isnt the most sought after to begin with so it likely is taking up space that they can put a truck in and make more money on.
In reply to MrChaos: The strange thing is, they have 4 more on the lot today, same options but for $12,995. But I'm thinking the same thing, the ones that are 10,995 are all either gray or white and seem to have been there for awhile. I also can't find another ecoboost in Austin, so I guess it's not super popular.

That sounds like a textbook bait & switch. They get you to drive in to their dealer only to let you know, "Oh, we just sold that one! Come take at look at these similar cars we have left..."

It's manual-only, that's why.
I test drove one. It was comfy, but felt a bit cramped because of the sort of podlike interior design.
The thing that killed it was the engine. It actually felt plenty zippy on the streets around the dealership, but once we got up to freeway speed, it was clear there was very little left, whatever you did with gear selection.
But that's a whole lot cheaper than the Mini we bought instead.
In reply to 2002maniac: That's my concern as well. I've been working with in and with dealerships for 12 years now so I know every trick. I'm just waiting for my sales guy to give me an out the door price, which of course has taken 3 days to get...
I despise the trunk opening on the focus sedans. when I've had them as rentals, it is difficult to get things in or out of the tiny opening. I would only consider the hatchback version myself. Either way, it seems like a great deal. I had no idea they could be had that cheaply. I've not driven one with the 1.0L yet.

Good lord, you just reminded me about that. I could never get anything in the '14 we had. Besides the transmission, this was my most hated thing. I'd love a hatch, this is just hard to pass up at this price, considering it has some convenience features I've missed in the Versa.

Superchips' warranty is on the tune/tuner, NOT on anything else that breaks on your car.
Tuning the PCM will void your factory engine warranty, unless that tune is an official Ford Racing tune installed by a dealer. And yes, the dealer can tell if you've re-flashed it and "went back to stock."
I checked superchips site. There isn't anything I could find listed for this engine. There is in the UK but not on the US sight.

You are right the only place that has a tune for the US version is Pumaspeed. The lack of tuning is why I'm dropping mine for a f150 with a 2.7 most likely.
Is a custom OBDII tune not an option? For other oddball Fords with minimal aftermarket support, you can typically buy something like an SCT/Diablosport handheld tuner, and take it to the local tuning shop for a dyno tune. They can often be done mostly via email/datalogging if your tuner is willing, and you don't have a shop nearby.
I would be cautious about that "deal" - especially if you have to drive a distance to get it.
I looked at these and found Ford's dealer practices incredibly deceptive, which is why I didn't get one.

One shouldn't have to play tetris with a smallish messenger bag with a small laptop in it when trying to get it in our out of the trunk. I could only imagine going to the grocery store with that trunk. A total design fail in my book. Form over function I guess.
Looks like I'm passing on this one. I owe on the Versa, they offered me $7k I owe $10k. I got offered $9k at carmax, so I'm not sure where the disparity is on the trade, but they won't budge. So they want $300 a month and $15k out the door. That's a big nope, the Versa does everything i need it to.
If you owe 10k on the Versa and don't wanna lose a lot of money, you'll be stuck driving it until it's worth so little that you can't possibly lose a lot of money. Not that that's not a valid option. I'm guessing you drove the Focus and it wasn't enough better to eat the $1k loss on the Carmax deal and take the Focus at sticker?
The Versa will surely continue to drop value at a very rapid clip, the tentative plan is to throw aome extra money at it until it's reached a point that makes an even swap more likely. I didn't drive the focus, they're 45 minutes from me, so without a reasonable offer I find it hard to make time to go check it out.
