I definitely had some operator error on the seat height adjustment. That makes sense - I was having a hard time wrapping my head around why the car was built for people under 5'. I didn't look too hard, mostly playing with whatever could reach while driving.

I have an 11 Fiesta hatch' that i prepared for STF class solo. It is not a competitive car because of it's grossly limited power in concert with intrusive stability and traction controls. I will be getting a lightly optioned Fiesta ST late next spring. I will probably get the Recaro option but will pass on the sunroof. I Think everone who thinks they would enjoy a Fiesta ST should seriously consider just pulling the trigger and buying a new one. They will not be produced for very long as Ford is going to end production of this generation Fiesta after 2015. They have stated this publicly. So, As we have seen before with other hot hatches, They are best when bought new and just get harder to find as unmolested used cars as time goes by. I would rather buy it new and know it well!

When we took our base Fiesta to Solo Nationals, we disconnected the fuse for the system. I did the same when I took my wife's Yaris to the drag strip. Works great, and is totally legal in STF.

On the Fiesta ST, the system is fully defeatable by a button in the cabin.

I wouldn't say the Focus "auto" trans is bad at all it certainly is not a slushbox since it's a DCT, lol. If they added a "sport mode" like on a EVO or VW and put it on the turbo car it would be great. The one I drove on a luxury trim (platinum iirc?) I played around with and it shifted fast.

I would like to see it on a Fiesta ST. Especially since the europeon rivals all have such a trans available, or soon will. I think the Dart has one as an option too?

I like how the focus looks but I hate how these "superminis", or whatever the term is for a Fiesta, look. I miss when they could make them look like the Civic CRX.

Really? I had a hard time telling the Focus and Fiesta apart:

Focus is just longer and better proportioned.

Fiesta is too tall looking for it's length to me. Some of it's features are long compared to the body too and it looks weird, like the headlights for example.

I can't see your pics where I work

It just looks like it should sit lower and the high beltline looks odd on a car that small. IDK it just looks weird to me. It looks weirder in person than that pic especially since that one is a 2 door. I think it's the rear fender area, the small wheel there looks weird.

I'm saying weird way too much but that is how I feel about that car, lol.

Focus just looks like a better flowing design to me. It's smoother where the Fiesta is that bumpy/jagged/blobby look that a lot of cars have these days and the Focus seems to be anti-that. It's not a level as comparing a '09 to '11 Mazdaspeed 3 but I feel the same way about those cars as I do these.

That Fiesta isn't available in the US. It's a 3-door, and we only get the 5-door.

I drove a 2012 SEL focus to work today.......if you're 5'10" and have head clearance issues, you need to put the seat down from the "I want to feel like I am in an SUV" driving position.

Edit: NVM, thats been covered.

I would choose the fiesta personally, but its just because I like them.

Not that it matters, but I did choose the fiesta. Should be here in another 7 weeks or so. SE, not an ST. Fits me better.

Thought about it, but no, I chose the base 1.6l. Not sure why the 1.0l is limited in the options available, but I suspect that it's a gentle roll in of this powertrain for the US.

So SE, 1.6, 5 speed, and some luxo things (I'm an old fart)
