“Can one car really do it all?” That’s the question we wanted to answer when we grabbed this GTI out of the Carvana vending machine two years ago.
Today, it’s time for our experiment to draw to a close–and to call it a resounding success. Over 23,000 miles and dozens of track days all over the country, our GTI never …

I didn't realize this car was a DSG. Great deal!
I followed the build and the adventures. This is a nice car at a good price that needs nothing. GLWS.
Oh no!! No more GTI build content for us to follow!! I found your articles and experiences super helpful as I build up my own GTI for the very same goals, and I'm super grateful for y'all's experience and wisdom being shared.
Looks like you had a blast with this car, so at least it's not parting on bad terms. Good luck with the sale, I know the new owner will be quite happy with this build!
For as competitive as this is on track, it's wild how benign it is on public roads.
I'll be sad to see this one go--it's a perfect example of the hard part of building project cars. As soon as one is fast, sorted and reliable, it's time to say goodbye and move on to the next one. If I had infinite space and infinite budget, I'd keep it forever.
I have spent a ton of time in this car and it really is a perfect daily and track/autocross car. I will miss this one but excited to see it go to someone else who will enjoy it.
If only this had come about sooner. Nearly purchased a 2017 while following your lead and ended up with a '24 model GTi
wanna trade?

You know what's better than one GTI?
Two GTIs!
If I recall correctly, this car lapped The FIRM within several tenths of a second of the Honda CTR.
If I recall correctly #2, GRM is selling it for less than they paid Carvana for it stock.
There's a lot of bang for the buck with this car.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
I'll trade you a van for it.
In reply to Coniglio Rampante :
According to the GRM lap board, the GTI has turned a 1:20.99 at the Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park.
We ran a 1:20.62 in a 2023 Civic Type R. The Golf R ran a 1:21.37.
This is a smokin' deal. I'm the very happy original owner of a 2017 GTI Sport DGS. After track daying it three times in completely stock form except for brake fluid, I decided not to spend the thousands to duplicate this project car and would rather keep mine as a great daily driver in my doting old age. But if I had space for another car and didn't live 3000+ miles away, I'd be hot for it!
Like others on staff have said, it is a good car. Fun to autocross, terrific daily.
It’s all cleaned up and ready for a new home. I even cleaned the door jambs.
With this being the car that got me into autocross, so sad to see it go. But I know the next person will have just as much fun in it as I did.
The GRM GTI is calling my name.
Anyone want to buy my 128i?
I'm happy to announce that a deal is pending, and they plan to pick the car up next week. I'll post here if it falls through for any reason.
And the GTI is officially sold! Good luck on your next adventures, little Volkswagen, and hopefully we'll see you at Sebring.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Well, I'm glad I got to drive it a few times before it found a new owner.
Good luck little GTI, I will miss that car.
