For the first time in a long time all the registered cars in my fleet are actually roadworthy, have valid inspection stickers, insured and drivable. This is a weird feeling
Today I replaced / rewired the speed and reference sensor plugs on the 924s and it came to life on barely half a crank after sitting for 3-4 weeks (it has been dam cold lately). I have some annual maintenance to do on the cars but there is nothing pressing and everything on all the cars is actually working.
I think I need a new project. I am thinking 944s2 and putting some sort of unusual motor in it. .. . .. Or maybe going retro and go back to my teenage years and get a 65 T bird. It is weird to be looking forward to new project cars. LOL
Congrats! Wish I could say the same thing.
Now you've gone and done it! Something will spring a leak or short out in 3...2..1..
Consider me jealous! I am currently breaking my " no more than 1 vehicle at a time disabled" rule by 200 percent while I put a cage in the track rat and try to fix a backfire problem on my bike!
Heh, i've got another year and a half before that hopefully happens.
I may cry with happiness when that's done. Then i'll tell myself i'll just drive for a few years.
But really what'll happen is that my idiot brain will forget everything BAD about working on all these cars and only remember the good things and will whisper in my ear: "Remember how fun projects are? You should get another one."
And i'll do it.
Like a berkeleying idiot.
Project cars are like thanksgiving...last year, you had thirds on turkey. You remember loving the turkey. You forget how crappy you felt having waaay to much on your plate. You always forget that just one more can sometimes be one too many

edited to reflect how the same illness is manifested in my life. here in MI there's no safe way to drive on the freeways in a car that won't comfortably do 80 mph, and i just don't like winging along at 80% of redline.
but i currently have a 3-mile commute on surface streets only, so could probably get away with having a Corvair again.
see what i mean?

My current one is more like "You know how you don't REALLY like your current Miata? Instead of accepting that you don't like Miatas, you should, you know... BUILD another one ground up to see if you CAN like a Miata. Seems reasonable."
As my brain wanders at lunch time. another FC RX7 . .. . Or a TA from the early to mid 70's or.. . Finally putting together my 79 mercury zephyr wagon with a v8 and a 5 speed. I would do it with steel wheels with the dog dish cop car hub caps. Color to be determined but something that does not attract attention. Hmmm ok I think I see where this is going. BUT then there is the 64 Comet 2 door that I have been wanting for so long (same recipe basically as the zephyr.
Wait. I really should look at the "to do" list for the house before I go any further. LOL
I may have 3 cars down later this week, a new record!
