I am going down the forced induction road on a 924s.

Original plan was to use a Begi regulator, a MDS spark control that retards with boost. stock DME and #36 injectors (up from 19's)

I then replaced the MSD spark control idea with a Megajolt unit running an EDIS based ignition system. (up and running on the car currently in NA form)

Then I got thinking again (a bad thing)

Why not just go Megasquirt now that I have ford based EDIS?

So the question is do I need the Begi FPR with the Megasquirt? I think not! Can I instead go with the FPR from a 951? This would make the install much simpler BUT I will loose the manual adjust-ability of the Begi unit (you can adjust the rate of rize, the point when ti starts to rise as well as the base line FPR at idle) I am assuming that I can control all this with the megasquirt by the control of the injectors.

Ohya it is going to be intercooled 10 psi using the M62 from a C230 compressor with custom pulley.

Thoughts? Ideas welcome!!!

If you have a way to control the injectors directly - as in Megasquirt - the rising-rate fuel pressure regulator is not needed. In fact, given their inconsistencies and relatively short lifespan for an FPR, I'd venture to say they'd actually make things a lot more difficult.

Yep. Get a fixed rate regulator with a vacuum/boost reference (hint: most Bosch efi equipped cars from the mid-eighties) and manage the injector pulse-width.

Yep that is what I was thinking as well just wanted a second opinion.

Ok I will soon have some things to post up in the 2009 challenge section.

Yeah, I replaced the adjustable FPR on my car with a stock one once I had control over the injector timing.

You'll need to log in to post.
