Where's the roll cage? All I see is wet-noodle chassis...

that picture was after paint, but before the roll cage...I will get some newer pics with it in this weekend.

John, I need that Aspire to deliver chinese food to drunk people...and if I were going to swap anything into that car, it would be either a Mazda BPT or a EGT motor...I have considered an escort 1.9 with a turbo as well...

dammit John, ONE PROJECT AT A TIME!

by the way, i had a wheel bearing failure in the aspire...it was such a pain to change...why does it need TWO wheel bearings?

I like your turbine rims. And the color, too. What model did you find those on, are they stock?

I actually bought the turbines from a fellow SCCA member. I think they orriginally came LX 5.0 cars as well as late eighties Cougars and Thunderbirds.

the color is actually an industrial cement paint, for striping off floors in factories...

they are 15X6.5

Pozidriv on Wiki

News to me, too. Long story short: looks like Pozidriv has deep perpendicular slots, and a standard Philips driver will 'cam out' (or 'berkeley up') a Pozi head in short order. Look for those tiny, invisible 45° hash marks, though, and you're cool.

Turbines came on 5.0 GT Mustangs from 87-91ish (LX had 10-holes), 87/88 Cougar XR7's, and maybe a TBird or two (but I don't remember any). The Cougars had some cool stuff like white ones and ones with gold paint in the spokes (the 87 Anny Edition which is not an XR7).

yeah, what he said! they weren't on anything when I got them, but I bought them for 10 dollars a piece, and they fit, so I wasn't complaining...

http://www.diyautotune.com/faq/faq.htm, specifically: http://www.diyautotune.com/faq/faq.htm#pcb22-pcb3

If you need simple, 2.2 but less and less people are using it, V3 is a very good option and if you know what you're doing can rig up some wonderfully non-standard mods, V3.57 is for those w/o prototyping needs and/or simpler V3 board, this is all my opinion though, I run a V3, w/a MS-I processor, works great, all the features of V3 with some of the cheapness of MS-I (at the time of purchase several years ago)...

+1. I've tried reading through the website/forum multiple times and I always walk away with more questions then actual knowledge of the basic systems. I think a nice grid with "X"s in colomns for different options present and the different versions on the rows is what I'm always looking for and can never find.

For example.

i mean, what are the benefits to PCB 3.0, why would I need to "expand the board", whatever that means.

what is the cheapest unit I can get away with, and how do I sync it with my laptop? I am COMPLETELY new to computers...

That's because it would be like asking the blanket question what options does Linux have in it? Well that depends on the version of Linux and what all an individual user has done to modify the origional setup. MS is open source, you can develop your own circuitry and embedded code for it, there's really no limit. If you have questions about a basic setup call one of the companies that will build one for you, like DIYAutoTune, they are the best IMO.

Now where's Matt?

Maroon,

You need to build a GOOD 3 link in the rear. I havent read through the rules for EP in quite some time, but make sure what you can and cannot do to the engine in EP. The car can be fast, it can be fun, but its WAY back. A top prepped EP stang will be WAY past what you have now. I have driven one that is pretty close and its down a second or so to the top cars.

Honestly, Add a turbo, and run CP. I think you could get closer. My friend has the EP stang and we have brainstormed it, but not sure how much is left in it. Though this year is on concrete again.

You will have fun though!

we have kinda decided that this is going to be a rolling project. we will have developments through the season, and honestly I don't really care how well I do this season, it is effectively my first season of SOLO.

It is also good to see someone else doing this crazy act...brothers in arms I suppose, keep me updated on your build.
