My son, who is not here as often as I (who is?) leased his wife a new Exploder due to her short 10 mile trip to work. Packing for a weekend in Vermont, he found the rear well full of water. As such the radio equipment is back there, so no radio. Got the water out, wipe it down and let it air dry. Until it rained again. Having experience with Saab 900 sunroofs, he followed the drain tubes, blew a straw into it and heard air coming out inside the rear compartment. For some reason it didn't dump down the outside of the fender well as it should.
After a horrific rain recently he discovered the well filled again after a panic stop sloshed water out and under the rear seat. He took a video and called the Stealership. "Yeah, we may be able to squeeze you in Tuesday". He drove right over. Showed the Service Manager the video and they went out inspect the car. "Yeah, that's a problem".
He had to travel for work so they had the car 5 days. No resolution. A real stumper for them. Today he gets a phone call from the Service Department - "That's a maintenance issue, not a warrantee issue". Tempted to threaten driving it through the showroom windows, he instead tried to get the Stealership to find another vehicle.
Have any of you folks had or heard of this issue before? No Ford forums talk about it.

The hose is too short or pulled back so it is draining in the car instead of outside. Had a similar problem with a volvo 740.
Drains are plugged which is common.

Ask the service manager what the recommended Ford service interval is for sunroof drains. Especially on a new vehicle.
If the drain was plugged due to a "maintenance issue," it would back up and leak up top near the opening. It sounds like the drain tube is pulled loose down low.
Exactly what I thought Boost. Stealership had the thing quite a while and found no issues, WTH? He's trying to get out of the lease or get another vehicle, I suggested a 4-Runner but Ian says it rides like a truck. 
Just got a call from Ian. The dealer removed the headliner and all inner panels but couldn't replicate the problem. Ian suggested 3 options:
1. Lease ends in 8 months, get me another car like this one.
2. Find me another vehicle now.
3. If I visit here twice more with this problem, I qualify for the Lemon Law and you by it back, period. I go Chevy shopping.
Answer:
Yeah, another one of these would be $400/month more than you're paying because people like them.
Same answer, same reason, IF we can even find one. Because Biden upped the EV mandate, we have EVs we can't sell and we can't get our hands on desirable vehicles.
... and we'll shine it up and sell it for more to someone else.

Given the short 10 mile trip your daughter in law has, plus all the EVs this Ford dealer now has thanks to that mandate, I would suggest he presses for a nice new EV. Make sure it has no sunroof though.

Not up to me. I'm still confused why they ride so heavy. We had an R-5 with a kid in the back seat, how much crap do you really need?
