Trying to change out the lock cylinders on the mustang, and according to the youtube, once the key is turned past the accessory position, it should release and slide out, but it isn’t wanting to come out.
It is releasing about a 1/4” but then seems like it’s hanging on something and won’t come out the rest of the way. If I pull, it’s compressing the spring behind the bezel/switch but won’t budge
What the hell hell am I missing?
Its been a long time but I seem to remember there is a button or holder-pin that has to be released.

I know this is of no help...

It is the earlier style, that you use a paper clip to allow the key to turn left, past acc, at which point it is supposed to just release and slide out. Mine seems to be hanging on something

Anyone have any ideas? Can’t find any posts about a similar issue online

Have you talked to a locksmith?
I just pulled that style out of our 72 bronco and it came out as you described.
(Well, the key was so worn that it wouldn’t go into accessory so I used my lock picking kit to successfully convince it to rotate left)
keep trying?? Maybe a little more force?? I’ll look at ours when I can and see what might be catching

It’s almost like it’s too big to fit through the bezel
