and fails miserably.

I had lag right when he took off, I was waiting for the narrator to say "Even in Hazzard this ain't a good thing"
One of the suggested videos on the right was called "Cute bunny jumping competition." It was exactly what I thought it would be, and no, it wasn't related to the raptor vid.
Youch. Wasn't nearly as violent as the teenager that wrecked his 80s ranger jumping Danger ranger grande prairie track jump. Lucky he didn't die... No air bags.
i still wanna see how badly mangled that truck is... one of my friends owns one of them there Raptor things, and he thinks that it will be good as new with a few suspension parts and new airbags... i think the whole thing is junk..
but we both agree that there was probably a "not so honest" claim put into the guy's insurance company that didn't mention the "i was on a race track and hit a sweet jump" part of the story of why the whole truck is bent and 2 people have huge medical bills..
I'm sure its totaled, they had a raptor chassis on its side at the auto show this year. Looked like a fairly normal 1/2 ton truck frame with a bunch of prerunner type goodies bolted on. I.E. exactly what the Raptor is.
Having personally jumped a 78 Chevy truck just about every morning on way to school, it might not be too bad. Granted I wasn't jumping 90'. I replaced three or four sets of ball joints in the Chevy and a front bumper over the span of a couple of years, but that's really about it. It'll need a front end rebuild for sure but the frames almost have to be stronger than a 78 Chevy. The one video that showed the aftermath, it didn't look like it cracked the windshield or any of the other glass, which is a sure indicator of a seriously twisted frame. And the passenger door opened without too much trouble. The front passenger wheel also looked to still be centered in the wheel well. Hard to say without really looking at it and putting it on a frame machine. It would be interesting to find out.
IMHO it's totaled. unlike a 78 chevy, it weighs a E36 M3 ton, has crumple zones, 8x as many parts, is way less flexible, is much more tightly packaged... and it flew 90'.
In reply to Shaun:
you forgot the one thing that totaled that truck....airbags
Look on the bright side. I would say a majority of the actual truck is fine. Someone will have a great start on a real pre-runner
Yeah, the air bags will probably do it. I forgot about those. Looked like it has the full Monty too. Side curtains and all. Those are going to be a pretty big chunk of change.
I'll be happy to take it off his hands for Challenge money though.
I did some digging and found some info on the truck.
It probably could be repaired, but the guy isn't going to. He's going to use is as a parts truck for his other one and has ordered another for a total of 3. Apparently money isn't a problem.
The truck still runs and drives but is pretty bent. Both front frame rails are bent, both front shock towers are bent into the engine, the steering universal hit the valve cover and cracked it, the frame flexed enough to bend the back of the cab where the bed hit it.
Apparently the shocks survived, but they are going to be sent off for rebuild. The suspension arms survived. No damage to the engine and transmission other than the cracked valve covers.
I don't know if the hot links will work, but here they are.
All in all, it held up pretty well considering the hit it took. The jump was 83', the landing area was 12, below the launch point. At apogee the truck was 22' in the air, for a total drop of 34'. That's a lot.

Consider how viral this video has become, it'll be tough to get this one past the insurance company.
Oh, and another thing. Both driver and passenger were taken to the hospital and released. Other than being sore as hell, there were no injuries.

pics don't work for me... and i'm not signing up to a Raptor forum just to see them..

yet.. no injuries yet... let's get back to them in a decade or so and see how they are holding up..

there was a guy a few years back that rolled his brand new Dodge truck doing a burnout then posted it on Youtube.. he tried to make a claim saying that a deer or something jumped out in front of him... insurance agent saw the video.. last i heard, he was looking at a prison term..
I wish I had that kind of stupid cash. Then again if the guy was smart he would just buy a trophy truck for that kind of sheet.
