Ford V Ferrari trailer just dropped?

Maybe it won't be 100% historically accurate or give the credit to everyone who deserves it, but guys, take a step back and lets just appreciate that its a great-looking movie about a pretty cool story and an awesome car with some solid actors. Its cool this is even happening. It could be more Fast & The Furious dreck

Just watched the trailer. I won't be able to sit through a whole movie with Matt Damon as Shelby. Horribly miscast.

Watching the trailer makes it appear that some of the testing was the Lola GT40 at Riverside.  I think.  So some of that back story may be part of the movie.  Still, it wasn't until Shelby came along (in terms of timing, I mean) that the car won.   And it was a Shelby entrant that Bruce was driving.  

Also, everything I've read had Ken Miles doing a lot more testing and development than McLaren did.

Just for giggles, who would make a good cinematic Carol Shelby? Gene Hackman's a bit too old.....

Might not be tall enough, but I think Mark Ruffalo has the puffy face and curly hair to pull off Shelby.

Wyer's autobiography - and Horseman's to a lesser extent - are really interesting reading about the development of the GT40, both before and after Ford/Shelby's involvement. The former is pretty hard to find now, the latter was reprinted at least once but is getting harder to find.

Go Like Hell is a book about the Ford/Ferrari fight. It's a good read, but a bit lightweight and tells the usual hoo-rah story without getting into all the details. I know there was talk of a movie, I'm not sure if this is directly it or just another movie about the same story.

I'll be in the theater to see Ford vs Ferrari. How could I not be?

I wish I could remember which team technically had Mercury GT40s. I think it was Holman-Moody. Their GT40s had Mercury script on the sail panels, and Mercury 7-Litre valve covers

IMDB says the working title for the movie was Go Like Hell so pretty sure the source material is from that book.  Before anyone gets caught up with complaining about Matt Damon in the Shelby role, the original casting folks wanted Tom Cruise (as Caroll Shelby) and Brad Pitt as Ken Miles.   Alex Gurney gets to play his dad, so that's something.

Excepting the complaints about matt playing Carroll, I think the concerns will prove to be unfounded.  (He is a great job and I hunk he did a great job but there’s nothing to be done if you can’t get past it being matt Damon).  I think you guys will appreciate it, but since I haven’t seen it, I make no guarantees.   I got to work on it and drive with some flat out legends and it was a good job.  Too bad we have to wait so long for it to come out now  

I agree with Mr. Tanner the last win with an outdated race car is a better story.  Also from what I read Ken Miles did most of the development work and Shelby's group did not build the cars the modified existing cars to make them winners finally.  Sheby's nickname by the crew was "Billy Sol" after the famous Texas con man Billy Sol estes.
