Has *anyone* of us found their forever car? I'm betting most of us here have the A-ADHD and always look, wonder, research and/or test drive something a bit different than what they currently have. ("Oh look. Dinosaurs!).
BTW- I haven't as I enjoy the hunt so much...

never getting rid of it. Nor do I plan to ever replace my truck. I bought it new in 2016 with the intent of it being my forever truck, and have been hitting it with fluid film and might even get a winter beater to make it last as long as I do

It would appear so; 38 years and counting.

I'm procrastinating on getting a 242 manual because it'll get a 16v head swap and factory turbo bits to accompany suspension work and a steering rack quickener all of which will ultimately make it a forever car.
They all are until fate (usually rust) changes my mind.
Thus the P2R Volvo. Let's see what you got, chlorides.

I first bought this car in about 1990. I did a cheesy 19yo kid resto of it. Rebuilt the engine in place, carpet, good vinyl, etc. Then just before moving to New Hampshire I wrecked the underside of it. I thought it was totaled so I got rid of it.
Someway, somehow it followed me to NH. I bought it the second time 30 years later.
Needs a complete restoration again but I have my first dream car back in my possession.
My wife can sell it when I am dead.

In reply to preach (dudeist priest) :
My wife said I can't sell the Datsun.
I have both of mine. I thought I had them 50 years ago, but the general advancements proved me wrong around 1987. Also I got to experience everything with wheels between time trial/race instruction and service shop owner. Granted I am on my 6th Volvo 245 (yup, hard on them) and 2nd X1/9.

This pic from 2001 shows the 2nd and 3rd of the Volvos, note tire set-up.

First X1/9 on track.

Does it count if I've had three of the same car? If so, then my IS-F. Best all around car I've ever owned by a wide margin. 400+ hp, seats four, decent sized trunk, great v8 noises when uncorked, anvil reliability, we just road tripped it and pulled down nearly 26mpg

I would think so. You're just looking for the best example of your car! Always a smart thing I think.
I've had the GTV in my avatar for over 26 years, and I've had my Miata for 23- since new. Have no intention to sell either one.
I shudder to think about forever but based on the plans I have, this one might be it.

I really like this one for no good reaso at all too.

I have significant plans for both.

Forever is a long time. Had the MGB GT for 40 years before it wore out its welcome.
But for now, I do not see any exit strategy for the Molvo. The wife considers it her TajMahal so guess it is going to be around for a while.

I had no plans for it but at 21 years and counting I see no reason to get rid of it now. Bought new in 2001 with 3 miles on it. Now has 235,000 miles on it and the best mod was koni yellows in 2006 followed by a bluetooth head unit in 2019.

It's a later arrival in my life, bought at age 63, but I'm keeping my 99 Miata sport until they take my keys away. Hopefully, that includes a mid-pack finish at nationals first.

I met my hero. I loved my hero. I thought my hero was my forever. I changed my mind.
Then again, I don't see myself ever being rid of my Lemon.

I think I've found mine or it grew into my forever car, but it's probably actually the sunk cost fallacy.

"...DI UNA.." is technically correct but "...D'UNA.." would work a lot better and sounds a lot less stuffy and formal.

No plans to ever sell it.

This one I bought in 2016 as a mouse home that had been sitting 5 years in the bush with the valve cover off and a hole in the block. But I've owned a 3g Prelude since my first car when I was 17 in 2004.

This is gorgeous. Its a facelift, correct?
In reply to Slippery :
Thanks! Backdate I guess you could call it. It's a '91 with an '88-'89 front bumper/signals/fogs. Moulding on the front bumper was shaved to match the rest of the car, plus a Xenon front lip.
In reply to Run_Away :
Yep, it looked like it had the 90-91 tail lights.
I had an '88 which I miss dearly. This happened at 90k miles, had to be removed through the roof. Drunk guy that hit me had no insurance, lost it.
