FWIW, I watched the race on ESPN using youtube TV and there were no such interruptions, so there's that as an option too.

So we are coming up to an odd set of weekends in F1.
This weekend is in Imola- so back in Europe,
And then May 22, Spain, again in Europe.
But the weekend in between- May 8 is Miami.....
It's nice there's a break in between the races to travel, but given so many races on the calendar- 3 races in 6 weeks is kind of slow. And even with that, travel to the US isn't all that easy for a huge system life F1. Not quite as bad as for Canada, when they are there the week after Azerbaijan.
Sure seems that it would make more sense to have Miami near Canada in terms of time, instead of 2 separate trips like that to North America.
Anyway, it will be fun to see them race again. I can only imagine how much fun it will be at the track if Ferrari wins another race.

Yeah, the schedule sure doesn't reflect F1's stance on emissions. Bouncing across the world 5 times in 5 races is a bit excessive
Isn't Canada in July? Being in a Racecar for two hours, in Miami, in July, doesn't sound like a great time. I was in Dallas for the 1984 GP in July. It was EXTREMELY hot that weekend.

I believe that Ferrari wins every race at Imola. It's just not always in first place.

June 19. Miami June 12 isn't that different than Miami May 8. It's 80's there all the time.. (the average high in May is 83, June is 86). Dallas and Miami are VERY different. Miami in July averages 88, Dallas 96.
There are races that are hotter than Miami at it's worst.
Seeing these times for a very wet and wet P1 at Imola, Mercedes problem isn't their engine. They are clearly very much down on downforce.
On the opposite end of the spectrum would be Ferrari- who have a clear car advantage. Makes you think that the Ferrari engine is a little down on power to Honda.
Here's the schedule for the weekend in Eastern time.
PRACTICE 1 Fri 07:30 - 08:30
QUALIFYING Fri 11:00 - 12:00
PRACTICE 2 Sat 06:30 - 07:30
F1 SPRINT Sat 10:30 - 11:30
RACE Sun 09:00 - 11:00
Oh, jeeze. I totally screwed up and forgot this was a sprint race weekend. I scheduled a meeting at 1100 today.
According to Toto, the Mercs have to lift on the straights because of the porpoising. George's car broke one of the stays on the floor because of it. I think it's going to be another tough weekend for them.
The Mercs look just awful.. Sainz in the wall, Red Flag in Q2, with rain coming they are probably done..

As it's drying out, both Mercs are hitting the ground really hard on the straights. Terrible.
And now in Q2, Sainz with a new contract just binned a Ferrari. Probably freezing Q2 with rain coming.
Hamilton is out of the car, he is done for today. Mercs are out in Q2. Valteri looks like a genius for hooking up with Alfa, who knew the Mercs would be this bad?
In reply to 06HHR (Forum Supporter) :
They are struggling but that may be a it overstated. They are still second in championship points because the Red Bulls are still fragile. Both Merc drivers have stood on the podium. I bet that both of them win a race this year too. I wouldn't bet that for Alfa. I like Bottas too but if you ask every driver on the grid if they want to race for Mercedes next year, I am pretty sure at least 16 of them are going to say yes (possible exceptions of Perez, Verstappen, Sainz, and Leclerc).
Masterful spin by Magnusson, managed not to touch anything and was able to get out of the gravel under his own power. Session still red flagged, but no recovery required.

As someone who has raced at West Palm Intl (Moroso) in West Palm since 1991, I'm well aware of the heat and humidity, especially since Cool Shirts were not within reach financially when I started.
Nothing like doing an hour and a half enduro when it's 90 degrees and 98% humidity. Which brings up another point for a 'summer' race in Miami. You can nearly set your watch to the afternoon thunderstorms.

For sure! That was all strangely disappointing. Didn't get a battle for pole. E36 M3.
This is by far some of the finest driving I've seen in a long time......kinda reminds me of my youth 30 yrs ago .....on the now MLK Jr Dr(Cleveland Oh) in my 1973 Saab99 going to see Bill "MisterStress" Miller (harmonica hot chops)....wink https://twitter.com/i/status/1517484540675166208
I'm looking forward to the whole weekend, it's supposed to be dry for tomorrow's sprint race, and rain on Sunday!
Could be really interesting......I feel no sympathy for the Mercs, after having it all their way for the last 8 seasons, it's nice to see some real racing going on at the front and not just in the midpack.
That said, if they get their issues sorted out, they'll be right back in the front pack again, I'm pretty sure.
Has anybody been screwed worse by somebody else crashing than Lewis, over the last 5 races?
I mean, he was toast today anyway, but come on, man. This is starting to seem like piling on.

The Mercs had it all their own way except for when the (cheating) Ferrari was faster and then when the Red Bull was faster :) They earned their championships.
But yes, we've got some fun racing on our hands these days. The new regs seem to have worked as intended.

And it's interesting that Merc gets blames for their dominance....
One thing that seems to be working is the cost cap- for Mercededs at least. They have to schedule the mistakes that need to be fixed as opposed to fixing them ASAP. Williams, on the other hand. Well- they should part company with Latifi, as a year out Albon is so much better than he is.
