The caffeine in RB and other energy drinks isn't that different to large coffee drinks. The difference is RB has lot's of various B vitamins, inc. Niacin. I think the rush from RB is as much the energy hit from the B's as the caffeine. If you're tired and don't want anymore caffeine, grab a Vit B and Niacin vitamin pill. Just make sure it's a no flush niacin, or you'll get personal demonstration of what menopausal women are experiencing when they have a hot flash.
So which team should sign up Jamie Chadwick to their driver development program?
I think Aston Martin or a long shot..Renault.
At least get her signed up so she has a better chance at a GP2 drive.
In reply to Advan046 :
McLaren and have her go into Indy replacing Pato and have Pato replace Danny when the time comes. They can put her in the new Formula E team they just bought for the time being.
It says volumes of the W series when the 2 time champion and honestly clearly the best and most consistent driver there can not land a step up ride outside the series. It's really too bad unfortunately.
There have been a lot of rumors about mid season driver changes. The one that sounds most plausible is Latifi is going to be out and replaced by Oscar Piastri. There are a bunch of swap rumors too that don't seem very likely but interesting:
Swap Vettel and Albon (apparently Vettel and AM management are not seeing eye to eye)
Swap Danny Ric for Gasly (Allegedly McLaren isn't that impressed with him and want a more consistent performer and PG is unhappy that Red Bull is talking to Checo about a contract extension)
I can see the first one happening, not sure about either of the others but maybe?
In reply to NY Nick :
I think that with the new rules this year. That any mid season changes would have to be because of some extreme situations. The teams need consistency unless they are already giving up on 2022 season.
Maybe if Vettel or Gasly fully burned all their bridges in a team they might be replaced but not let go to drive for another team.
In reply to bmw88rider :
Yeah it is good that Calderon is in Indycar this year. She was a bit lucky and unlucky at the Indianapolis road course race.
I thought the W series was to give a start so the winner could get into gp3 but Chadwick, Powell, and Kimileinin all seem ready for the next level if the FIA can figure out how to foster that.
Unfortunately they are all, almost too old for F1s preferences. Definitely Kimileinin is too old for any F1 team to want to invest time into.
In reply to Advan046 :
I agree on all accounts except for Latifi, at the rate he is crashing stuff he is costing a lot of cap $ and his performance just isn't there. I think the Mazepin / Schumacher vs. Magnussen / Schumacher experience show that having a sub par driver in one of your cars drags down the whole operation, even if they bring a box of money to the team.
In reply to Advan046 :
The W-series cars are too slow for any of the drivers make any real jump other then Sports cars. The age of the drivers means a lot compared to the 16 year olds in indy lights, F2, or F3. Calderon is in over her head in indycar she looks to be on the same level as Kellet, which isn't a good look. She should have done atleast 1 to 2 years in lights. I always thought that Sportscar would have been the better investment to run all over the world. Make connections needed for a race career in the paddock with manufacturers. Switch the car to LMP3 or Prototype challenge have them run with IMSA/WEC/ect.. and standalone sprint races at F1 weekends and if they win their class level them up to P2 and/or P1. Most of them are on a path to nowhere unfortnatnly.

I beg to differ. W series uses F3 cars. Ever heard of nobodies like Max Verstappen, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button, Mika Hakkinen, Ayrton Senna, Martin Brundle etc. etc.? They (and many many others) all went straight from F3 to F1. Sorry, I lied, that Raikkonen bloke never made it to F3, he jumped F3 and F3000 and went straight from Formula Renault to F1. And for most of those except Mad Max, who was in the modern version of F3, all the others were in the old under powered 2.0L stock block and heads restricted F3 with only just over 200hp of NA power, not the 380hp of the current spec formula cars. And that F Renault car Kimi drove was more like 180hp.

Those guys were racing F3 cars against every other young F1 wannabe. W series uses F3 spec cars with a very limited driver pool. Not to down on the ladies running in the series, but I really think the whole concept reduces their chances of moving up UNLESS there is a clear step from W into F3 or F2. Like the Road to Indy...win W series, get a wad of cash/fully funded ride in the next step. That is the only way it works for them. Besides that, they will just be the a F3 series for women that gets no attention like Women's soccer vs Men's.

I'm not disagreeing, but the statement was the cars aren't fast enough. Yes, yes they are. The competition is a different matter.
I haven't really commented on W series up until now as I am ambivalent. On one hand, it's good there's an effort to promote women female drivers. On the other hand, having a series just for women is obviously just as exclusionary as telling a woman she shouldn't be in a mans world, and throws up the obvious question why aren't they competing in an open formula. It's nuts.
When you listen to interviews with people like Simona deSilvestro, Sarah Fisher, Katherine Legge, while they all got help from people because they are women, there were just as many doors shut for the same reason. In this day and age being a woman isn't enough of a novelty to make people back you for that reason over a male. And there's a still a lot of sexism in, not just in motorsport itself, but the corporate boardrooms that provide the sponsorship for these people. There are the occasional stand outs like Danica (no last name needed for casual recognition) who are not only talented, like the women I noted above, but who also hit the jackpot in the DNA lottery and are, let us be honest, not just good looking but absolutely stunning. Then talent and looks did provide a helping hand. But at the end of the day, while I'm not a Danica basher, I don't think anyone would honestly say she is/was more talented than Legge, Fisher, and especially Simona who I think with different brakes could have been a top line driver and race winner, if not a champion.
At the end of the day it is what it is, there's good and bad.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson (Forum Supporter) :
Since the inception of F3 and F2 in the 2010's. Max is the formality and to be fair his dad knows how to navigate the politics of F1 to make it happen. F1 is not fair, ask Oscar Piastri, plus there aren't many cars available let alone competitive ones to showcase everyone talent. Hence FE and Indycar getting some of the talent. Those drivers in Indycar few have made a successfully leap, JV and JPM are the only two that were fairly successful in F1 and that was like 20 years ago. To legitimize the W-series those who win the championship need to move on a be successful not go for a 3rd season. Maybe in 5-10 years that will change or maybe it will fold just like many other series.
In reply to Adrian_Thompson (Forum Supporter) :
Missed the part about the speed of the cars, merely equating F3 to F3. Makes Kimi's step up all the more incredible given the beasts he was getting into straight out of a Renault...
The issue to me (not just W series or female drivers) is that women aren't necessarily at the top levels of racing because "they can't get a break... it's a man's world... etc." (not quoting you, just common arguments), it is more a small sample size of girls that start (at age 6 like everyone has to now) and stick with it. Racing just isn't as interesting to the fairer sex, and that can be okay. If they aren't interested because of societal pressures or bullying or other crap, that's not fine. I think any guy here would have been fine spending a weekend racing at a kart track back in high school but how many female classmates would have chosen that over LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE?
Same argument could be made about women in STEM, for example. Is it that there are pressures that push them away? If so, then let's address that and improve it. But, is it possible that women prefer the aesthetics of interior design and such instead of the architecture and engineering of the structure?
Sorry, I really don't want to talk about the W series as I am truly ambivalent about it. I can see the pros and cons, I can see the good and bad. It's a mixed one I am split on and don't have the answers.
Outside of the W series. there is zero reason why one day a woman shouldn't be able to win in any championship in the world. Simona, Danica, Legge, and Mann have all proved they can race the DW12 chassis Indy cars with massive downforce and no power steering. That alone should put an end to any discussion on physical strength, as these cars are supposed to be very very heavy to drive, especially compared to the over boosted Buick steering on F1 cars. At the end of the day, it's simple statistics. For every 100 men who actually start out to chase an F1 or Indy car seat at the beginning of their career, there's probably only 1-3 women trying to do the same (I'm talking once in cars, not at the KArt stage) It's just going to take a hell of a lot longer to find that once or twice in a generation talent when so few are even trying. I really can't wait for a female F1 race winner, or Indy car champ (As Danica has already won a race).

There is a part of me that wonders if Chadwick is actually a worse-case scenario for W-Series. She dominates the field which sets her as the benchmark for all the drivers - yet completely fell flat when driving for Prema in F3 i 2020.
I think W-series is going to have to decide one of these years if they want to be a pathway for women to get into F1, or similiar to the WNBA - a woman-only racing series that is a destination in and of itself.

As much money that has been spent towards this series they probably could have done what Redbull did in the early stages prior to owning a team. Make a show out of a driver search having them competing for 5- 10 sponsored seats in F3-F2. Rotate and fund new drivers yearly as needed until they reach F1. W-series could then purchase or be part owners of a f1 team in 5-10 years, to circulate drivers. Yes it's a cut throat model but some of the RB drivers would have never sniffed F1 if not for them. Simona got screwed because she choose the wrong managing team, otherwise she would have been in F1, to tick the box. I am a fan of Legge as well but she wasn't as close as Simona and as we all know Danica although tested, so did Marco and neither of them had a shot.
MEDLAND: Here's where tensions will rise in F1 this year In other news I think the gloves come off after the holiday break late August early September.
Well again I hope as she is a Williams academy driver. The only Williams academy driver with a championship. That she would get some backing. But as Williams apparently doesn't have the a way to get her an F2 seat I was hoping some other team would step in.
Latifi could not beat DeVries in FP1.. Writing on the wall for his seat?
In coverage from FP1 this morning it was said that Mercedes was throwing a large number of options at their car this weekend. If they can't figure this car out it is believed they will abandon the concept altogether and go back to a conventional side pod.
In reply to NY Nick :
Fp2 makes it appear that Mercedes is on to something. If they can hold onto this performance for the rest of the weekend, it will be an interesting rest of the season with 3 top teams.
And Aston looks stronger, too, not counting stroll. They were very behind the 8 ball, too.
Even better if Renault can be one of the top teams, noting how close they are.
Not fun to see McLaren at the back of the field. Even in practice that sucks, since they had real speed during testing.
In reply to alfadriver :
It looks like Norris tore the car up badly on the curb too. They have a long night ahead.
I know I have made no bones about my distaste for Christian Horner however I must give credit where credit it due. In response to the copying allegations by our friends at "Tracing Point" aka "Asteal Martin"... Sorry Aston Martin. Christian and the team showed up with these drinks on the pit box this morning. That is a sick burn even if I am not a fan.

It wouldn't be F1 if Force India/Racing Point/Aston Martin wasn't copying the fastest car on the grid.
Horner and the whole RB operation are asses, but damn the drinks are funny.
I'm not quite understanding the drinks thing.
Isn't that just the green flavor redbull? What does that have to do with Aston Martin? Just cause they are green?
Help me out here.
