You don't cheat off the test of the kid who's failing the class, right?
I'm a bit surprised that the whole field hasn't gone towards the RB design. It obviously works as well as, or better than, every other car on the grid. "Their thing looks like my thing!". No E36 M3, Sherlock.
Now, I'd certainly want to make sure the insides, that are not easily photographed are not identical, because that could be som espionage...
It only makes sense to copy the quickest car, it's not like their design is patented or copyrighted. Besides, Red Bull has always been willing to copy others, remember the double diffuser in 2009? Christian and Helmut are such douchebags
I got the impression they just want to make sure there was no hacking or internal theft of design. Can't really blame them for that.
Pre quali, it looks like Merc has a far better handle on the car this weekend. They still hit the track in high downforce situations, but it's not bouncing nearly as badly.

The two cars are too far apart for that. Red bullE36 M3 wants to make a big deal out of nothing. Good for advertising to claim they are so great.
Seeing Mercedes progress is nice to see, and it appears that Ferrari is progressing faster than rbr. We will see after qualifying and the race.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is the first time since Brazil 2019 that both Haas cars made it to Q3, so that's cool!
I couldn't help but notice that the announcers were really talking up how Hamilton qualified but sort of glossed over the fact the George was a few positions better in the same car.

I must say Russell is doing a better job. Hamilton I think got some extra coverage as TV loves the comeback story and Lewis has crushed his teammates for a while now. So they were betting their Hamilton coverage would come good. But Russell has done the job so far this weekend. I can see one MB on the podium but only some magic with tire life would get both of them on the steps or the win.
I was most impressed that HAAS got the fire damaged car back out for Q1! Excellent!
Ferrari need their development program to come good or this will be like 2018? When they could of won but MB clawed it back.

The announcers are basically the reason I no longer follow F1. "Crofty" is beyond berkleying useless.
George vs Max was fantastic. More driving like that please. And boy, life's a lot more fun without the DRS magic pass.
Gutted for Charles.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
DRS seemed about right here, with equal tires it wasn't enough to get you by, just very close. Still hoping it can disappear though.

The W-series cars are too slow for any of the drivers make any real jump other then Sports cars.
I beg to differ. W series uses F3 cars. Ever heard of nobodies like Max Verstappen, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button, Mika Hakkinen, Ayrton Senna, Martin Brundle etc. etc.? They (and many many others) all went straight from F3 to F1. Sorry, I lied, that Raikkonen bloke never made it to F3, he jumped F3 and F3000 and went straight from Formula Renault to F1. And for most of those except Mad Max, who was in the modern version of F3, all the others were in the old under powered 2.0L stock block and heads restricted F3 with only just over 200hp of NA power, not the 380hp of the current spec formula cars. And that F Renault car Kimi drove was more like 180hp.
F3 engine spec from FIA website - "6 cylinder 3.4 litres naturally aspirated 380 HP @ 8000 rpm"
W series engine spec from the WSeriers website - "4-cylinder turbocharged 270hp engine"
Lewis. It's as much a strong mental performance, like he's done so many times before. He whined on the radio once about saving the engine, then put his head down and passed most of the field. That may be his best characteristic. Shame about having to give 4th up, but still a hell of a day.
Charles. What is there to say...
Max needs some zen. I sure wasn't confident in his pit strategy, but it was obviously right today.
George surely got his elbows out. Very much good drive, finest kind.
The Mercs absolutely made a step up this race, although they need to make up another bunch of time to be fighting for the win.
And the tail wind made for some interesting times until they figured it out.

Haha! I thought the same thing. It was like, "brrrrrr-wheeeze..... Poof"

If you watch in F1TV you don't have to listen to Crofty!
I was so disappointed with Lewis apparently giving up after having a clash with Magnussen but he did a great job fighting back and I hope this gives him the kick in the pants that he needs to get back in the fight. I think of the movie "Top Gun" where Maverick has a confidence issue and won't engage the enemy after he loses control and Goose dies. It's like Lewis is still recovering from having the Championship yanked away from him last season and right now he's saying "It's not good". Here's the scene Maverick is reengaging, sir
