If only the Max fan could do the same towards Lewis we'd all be able to peace out.....and I'd be able to enjoy the different F1 forums etc instead of avoiding them.

toxic max hate- that's funny.  I wonder if Checo's feelings are toxic to max, too.....  He did say over his radio that this shows what max is.  "It shows who he really is" is what Sergio Perez said.  For sure, it's hardly just the posters here.  How you can in anyway defend that, I'm not sure.

Send it to hit Lewis, as you suggest, and it's ok to keep his teammate down- all in once race.

Curious reactions.

Glad I can meet your expectations.  At least you can defend your driver's actions at the end of the race.  We all know you are totally ok with him driving into Hamilton.  Not sure why, but you are ok with it.  The end, though, where he told the team off to give his own team mate some needed points, when he doesn't need anymore.  And the theoretical race where he was offended- the points are not needed.

Why in the world would he do that?

As a non fan of Max even I can freely admit he's been much better this yr(easier when out front and gone) and have hope to see him race everyone like he raced Charles at the start of the yr.

He finally realized he's had the best car for at least three years.  Hitting other competitors when you have the best car is counterproductive.

Excellent race!

Fun to watch weekend!

Lewis I am sure is quite conflicted, he must feel happy to get a 1-2 for MB. Angry that once again Max rams him. Crushed to not be able to take the fight to Russell(supposedly his car had slight damage but I think Russell was just in the zone). And nervious/anxious about if he will have pace in Abu Dhabi to get a win this year?!?!

Russell well kudos and congrats! laugh I called his win after thinking about the tracks he has been strong over the last 24 months or so, plus where RBR had issues. Ferrari was a wild card but they are good at keeping themselves down. As good as Hamilton is, he seems to have some spiky performances in Brazil.

Sainz was on fire! I was curious if he would challenge Russell after the last safety car but he couldn't close in fast enough.

RBR has an awesome pit crew! Nuf said about them cheaters.

Alonso and Ocon are going out on a bad tone. I am curious if Gasly's grumpy ending with AT will combine with Ocon's bad ending with Alonso will doom Alpine in 23.

Did anyone else get screwed by their local cable/ABC? Our race coverage started at lap 64. They were playing some absolute filler garbage show called E/I. Schedule was right, we set our DVR, and no race. By the time we figured it out, we had to login to ESPN to watch it on the app, and missed up to lap 3.

Max has been driving much better this year than last, not being so desperate to win a Championship and being in a superior car can do that to a driver. As to his comment of "I have my reasons", may I suggest that his reasons are that he wants to take away as many of Hamiltons records as possible? This year he beat Hamiltons record of most points in one season and I believe it's just the start. I think he's obsessed with diminishing Lewis's legacy and that includes beating some of Hamiltons records such as Total Career Points, Total Career Points scoring races, Most Consecutive Points finishes, Most Consecutive Points Scored, Highest Average Points per race, Highest Percentage of Points Scoring Races, etc, etc. Remember when Lewis beat Ayrton's Pole record and he was so honored that he cried? I think if Max beats Lewis's Pole Record, he will have some snide comment about how it's no big deal or how easy it was. Douche

All I thought while Lewis was chasing Mick:  Boy, did Mick go to school last week when he was chasing Max.

I dunno, I never saw the "back off or we both crash" move.

The last one looked a bit iffy to me (lap 20).  Hamilton was alongside at the apex but had to back out because MSC was tracking all the way out.  The ones before that were fine though.

(edit: fixed lap number)

Hamilton needed to be ahead (not alongside) by the apex (wherever that is) if he wanted to complete the pass, he wasn't so he had to back out or get run off the track.

Fusion66 posted this on page 56, it's worth the watch and goes into the passing rules in detail and how they are stupid lol.

Why RBR got a 5 sec penalty versus Hamilton. We already covered it......yes

No issues. Just noticeable that they run the preceding show a little long, like 1 minute and this time they didn't cut coverage immediately after the trophies, but they always seem desperate to get back to reruns or shows that repeat the same scores constantly.

Well the issue is the whole team philosophy. Some think it a great philosophy to back 1 driver 100%  If he walks up and shoves a driver post race or ignores team orders and thus loses a race or driver 2 can win a race if the chosen driver helps(a little), regardless, defend and back up their chosen driver. If Alonso is deemed the other diver by that team then he will never have a chance unless luck(several engine failures and bad timed SC) or a rule change forces the team to shift.

I'm sure Lewis thought about attacking George there at the end- a few times he closed in, but could not get the gap close enough.  George was just having an epic weekend, and totally deserved that win.

Alonso-Ocon- that one is really odd- on Saturday, I really thought Alonso ran into Ocon, and but I also remember Ocon very much being a bump and run driver... who knows.  Maybe that was a factor that Fernando didn't bother with an Alpine counter offer???   But next year- all I've heard is that Gasly and Ocon don't like each other.  So the moodly French team is going to be interesting to watch next season.

I honestly think this will be the year Lewis doesn't win a race- there's no real reason they will be fast for the last race.  Maybe they will, maybe they've unlocked a lot of things, but I just don't see it.  I do see that next year has a bunch of potential- with them being forced to better understand a very flawed chassis, they should be able to get going quick next season.

My only hope for next weekend is that LeClerc beats Perez by one spot.  For the sake of Red BullE36 M3.  How much prize money did max cost Checo?

I was under the impression that there wasn't any prize money in play for the WDC, only for the constructor's championship.  Is the driver's championship worth any money other than the potential earnings from sponsors and teams?

Ferrari in the Schumacher era was famous for the "number one driver" philosophy.  That said, once Schumacher had his championship locked up he was all in on making sure Barrichello got #2 in the driver's championship, to the point of (controversially) moving over to give Barrichello the win on at least one occasion.

And yes, AIUI #2 in the WDC carries no official prize money from F1.  Some teams and drivers have contracts with bonus money for that kind of thing though.

Anybody notice that Gasly was speeding in the pit lane and didn't get any punishment for it? Could it be a failed attempt at getting a race ban before going to Alpine? Why didn't he get a punishment like everybody else gets when they speed?

Speeding in pit lane got Gasly a 5 second penalty during the race I think. Which is the standard as far as I can recall.

I do not remember penalty points for drivers that do that. Sometimes they get fined if during free practice.

My roll-up on the race:

1 — I think Max lost far more points yesterday than he gained. Checo has zero reasons to follow team orders moving forward. And even after the team meeting Max sounded like he was willing to help Checo only if that was under the assumption that he (Max) got to win the race. So very short sighted of Max given that Checo is the reason he won in Abu Dhabi (And Latifi of course).

Personally, I was starting to give Max the benefit of the doubt in being cast in a negative light due to inter-team politics. Not anymore. I think Max made a very loud and clear statement that he thinks RBR is 100% about him as an individual.

Checo has abided by team orders so many times, even when stating "I think it is unfair but OK." I think next year we will hear more Bottas style responses ("James, this is Valterri — F*#$ You") `from Checo as he starts racing for himself more.

2 — I agree with the take on the corner with Hamilton. His post-race interview response did seem to imply "There wasnt going to be room for me, so I hit him." Very reminiscent to Monza 2021 in my opinion.

3 — Ricciardo hosed not only KMag but himself as well. At least KMag got to lead a lap. I was hoping Danny was going to find a ride for 2023 or 2024 at worst. But this punctuating his season from hell is gonna be a hard one to overcome when selling himself as a top tier driver. I dont know that we will see Danny on the grid after this year which is a shame.

4  — I'm really curious to see what happens with Alpine next year. Occon and Alonso are already headbutting, and it is well known that Gasly and Occon dont get along. Alonso v. Occon gloves off and Occon v. Gasly with team orders is gonna make things pretty interesting.

Can you imagine what Alonso will be doing in Aston Martin when Stroll puts him in the grass? I don't think Alonso is any less of a driver but I don't think he or Stroll have the skills on making a team/car better. Alonso will defiantly drive the wheels off of it.

I think Alpine will be the best of the rest of the teams at #4 and perhaps that will loosen the projected tension of Gasley and Ocon.

Mclaren is going to take a step back not because of talent but because they can't be consistent and the car doesn't look to be drivable. Piastri is good but it will be a uphill battle and damaging cars may be costly.

Since Latiffi will be gone, I think that Yuki, Stroll, and Zhou are going to be the punching bags. I think Logan S. will be given a break given the car is the worst and it will be his rookie year, however Albon may really stretch his legs on him.
