Maybe the economics of F1 are different enough that they can more easily reduce the number of events in a season?

I think it's just that it's a lot harder to reschedule F1 events.  Something like 80% of NASCAR races are all within 1 or 2 days of truck driving range of the team bases in North Carolina, whereas these days most F1 races involve loading stuff onto a plane.

While I certainly understand and agree with the reasons for cancelling it, I'm disappointed.  I was looking forward to a race at an actual race track instead of stupid street circuits.  Monaco was tolerable when it was the only street circuit on the calendar, but we're overflowing with them now.

No question, logistically an F1 race is an order of magnitude more difficult than a NASCAR race. That said, if the NASCAR mentality ruled F1 we'd end up with additional make up races in England and/or turn the already scheduled race at Silverstone into a double header.

It is sas that the area around Imola is in such difficult times. I hope people can recover quickly.

F1 is gladly donating funds to the region.

I am curious if any teams other that alpha tauri will have difficulties getting to Monaco.

I was watching a video that indicated that many of the teams didn't get their stuff out fully yet and Monaco is at risk.

That would be great news :)

I have to watch every race even if you know its a waste of time unless its cancelled :)

FP2 is a go.  Are the Mercedes upgrades worth the squeeze or just lipstick on a pig?  Sainz lead FP1 while Verstappen had problems with rear traction and Alex Albon got acquainted with the wall.  Typical Monaco so far...

The race might suck but Qualy at Monaco is on another level, what a session. Think the neighbours heard me yell berkeley as Max took P1 at the end.

How he found that time in the last sector was nuts.  But Alonso, being who he is, knows that the race can be won in the first corner for once.

If Alonso sends it hard enough into T1 Charles might have a chance lol.

Hopefully the TV director does a better job this year then they have in the past, I feel part of the letdown race is that the actual action that does happen is missed. fingers crossed.

Should be one hell of a start tomorrow!

That was an exciting and different qually, with the odd mix of new faces in the top 10!

The race tomorrow could be crazy fun, especially if it rains!

Grid walk delivers once again...    "No mate., I'm gonna get effen E36 M3" And Hormer does the interview anyway.  Hope he cuts the guy some slack.

So, Checo puts hards on on lap 1.  I like his chances of making progress with this strategy.  Maybe some points...

Nine laps in, if his tires don't go off, he comes into third place once the others stop.  Providing he can clear backmarkers and not get caught up in a slow train.

And 16 in, he's screwed, going to come out 9th...and it's going to keep getting worse.  What a dumb place to race.

Good for quali, though.

Given how Checo has driven, it's hard to feel bad that he's struggling.  I'm hardly a fan of Stroll, but to blame Stroll for forcing him off is nuts- had he moved over an inch or so to "give room"- Stroll would have been in the barrier.  And he didn't have any real lead to take that corner.

And then for him to run into the Haas and claim a brake check... seriously?  I can't really think that a driver would do that when there is a massive risk of damage either from the hit or being hit into a wall.

Perez just needs to finish this race and leave the principality.

Rain...  Alonso stops twice, and still holds second.  He and Max are surely the class of the field today.

Had they not stopped twice, we would have a real race now- since Max gave him a lot of time with a mistake.

Well, that was one of the more interesting races of this season......Max did everything right and deserves the win IMHO. Alonso drove well too, and Ocon never put a wheel wrong the whole race - so well done to all three drivers and teams!

Not sure what might have happened if it hadn't rained, Max on Mediums and Alonso on hards there was a strong chance Alonso could have won this one as he was staying right with Max till things got greasy with rain.

Still, a  fun race to watch.

I wonder what happened to Stroll, he's usually really good in the rain......
