Also, the braking of F1 cars is so incredibly good and consistent that it's really hard to out brake someone. If they made them less consistent and liable to over heat- it's possible to have some variability in the braking zone. That plus the struggle to stay close enough to out drag someone down the straight is why DRS exists in F1 (and push to pass exists in Indycar).
I'd disagree on the out braking; we see it all the time.............granted the driver trying to out brake the other often out brakes themselves (see all the guys who went down the escape road).
Halfway through FP2 and Ferrari is the class of the field so far. Max is .7 off the pace on the softs.. The Red Bulls appear to be a tad loose, even for Max.
Ferrari 1-2 in FP1 is so frustrating because Friday ain't Sunday. The race pace of the Redbulls is so damn irritating for a Ferrari fan. Sainz put up just a hell of a battle at Monza and nobody can fault him for 3rd but they just need something else to go the distance and wins. Can't blame strategy really the last few races.

If the car is loose for Max it must really be loose!
Still, it's fun to see the boys in red jammies up at the front again......Alonso may have something to say in this race too!
Tomorrow will set the stage tho, when we see what they do in qually after running the computers all night and making the final changes.
WRT the Red Bulls- they mentioned here in quali that they tried a set up for a two stop race that just didn't work. And bailing on that meant they ended up a little behind normal.
Hard hit by Stroll- thankfully he's ok. Messed up the ending of Q1 pretty badly- as the track was getting better really quickly.
Not sure what RB tried, but they are certainly on the back foot. Half a second off the pace.
In reply to 06HHR (Forum Supporter) :
And it looks like they are tripping over themselves- even if Max ends up fastest, it sure appears he won't be on pole. Two impeding investigations.

And I wonder if Perez was why Tsunoda didn't get a hot lap in. He was fastest in Q1, and then got blocked by Max in Q2- never got a fast lap in. Ironically, his teammate is who knocked out Max.
Yuki was fastest by circumstance in Q1, they never had that much pace.
The look on Christians face after Q1 was fun for me. He has been quite smug all year (deservedly) and having a E36 M3 day seemed like a total shock.
So to look at the other end of the struggle spectrum- how long has it been since Haas has both cars in Q3?? Sure, some luck there, but that car is quick, too. So well done!
Interesting grid line up. Well, after qualifying - have to wait for some time to see what the penalties mean to the grid.

Are there any penalties pending outside or RB?
Really excited to see the Ferrari's up front and McLaren and Mercedes both in the mix! And Alonso too!

Apparently- they made a point of many potential blocking penalties.
So no penalties. Curious, as I see it.
The one at the end of the pit- that would have been an odd penalty, sure. But when Max blocked Tsunoda on a flying lap- who had the fastest Q1 lap- seems like a reasonable grid drop for that. I guess is was poetic justice that his teammate dumped him in Q2.
There are probably plenty of tantrums at Max's house tonight.
Max got his wrists slapped, but nothing meaningful. Boy, if it was Hamilton some people would be screaming. (ed: not here, but on some other F1 boards)

Max didn't get penalized because Alpha Tauri didn't show up to the stewards meeting-of course

Yet another reason to not join the RBR young drivers program.
I think Lawson is doing a stellar job, and if he finishes well here and at Suzuka, will there be any reason to put DannyRickyBobby back in the car this season?
A real conundrum at RedBull/Tauro Rossi/Alpha/Boss for the end of the season......
I wonder if old man Stroll will pull his son out of the car at the end of this season over concerns about his life being at risk? Good excuse to send him to the tennis courts and get someone stronger in the car?
Carlos has been on a tear lately, I'm really pleased to see him killing it like this, and a win would really put the exclamation point on this part of his season with Ferrari....as well as put him in serious contention for a seat at Audi, if he wants it. Although, everyone is excited for Audi coming into the championship, but I don't really expect them in the front row right off the bat.
Plus, too and also, it's looking more and more like Andretti Global will be on track in 2026 too.
So, I'm hopeful that RB has really E36 M3 the bed this weekend, but I'll believe it about 2 hours after the green.
Max is a petulant little bitch. Reverts to his core values when pressed.
I doubt the red cars will have enough rear tire to win, but I'm sure not counting them out.
George has a real chance. Lando has a real chance. Hell, Lewis has a reasonable chance, what with old age and treachery on his side.
Sunday morning should be fun.
