So they raised the ride height without crying....what a concept Yes we know that everything is basically wrapped up, and they probably working on next years car, so maybe this will make Mexico and Las Vegas wild cards.
Liam Lawson really isn't doing any favors for Logan, hopefully not all hope is gone for him being on the Williams roster next year. I think he can improve still.

I don't buy that one, singapore is far from the only bumpy track they've run at this yr.

So I tuned into ESPN to see F1 practice aaaaand it's HS football.
There aren't enough F bombs in the universe to describe how pissed I get when racing gets preempted by stick and ball sports.
Also note I really dislike HS football most of all.....it's everything I dislike rolled into one.
grrrrrrrrrrr
OK rant over.
In reply to Tom1200 :
It got bumped to ESPN news. It looked like things were back to how they were before Singapore.
In reply to dermzcont :
No kidding. The prices to see just a sliver of track are insane. I've got a place to stay in Vegas for the race, we're probably going to try to get a feel for the atmosphere and then watch the race on TV.
In reply to dermzcont :
Oh it's horrid. So I was going to marshal the race till I got the prices and the schedule. Hard Pass.
So as a marshal, the room price was $1250 for the 5 days......To stay at the Luxor. Not even a nice hotel. That was the supplemented rate. Then there was little fact of working 6PM to 2AM just to support 1 series.
It was less for me to work the Spa and Dutch GP last year overall with the flight, transportation between the 2 tracks, and lodging. I got to see all 3 series and had a great time at the track from start to end.
I wonder if this Vegas race will be the peak for F1's current American popularity. I think we all know it's mostly been driven by DTS, which has drawn a lot of eyeballs that normally wouldn't care about auto racing in general, much less F1. But these things tend to be cyclical. And the Vegas race and all the gouging that's happening has the potential to put the sport in a bad light and cause fickle people to move on to the next thing.
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
Tom, I think it already started to happen with Miami last year. The feedback from that race was not really that good by the casual fan looking for a good time and may have just followed DTS.
They are marketing to a very thin demographics at this point and trying to get heads to 3 races in a softening economy will be a tough ask for 2024.

F1 has outstripped its own fans and moved on to fleecing wealthy people for "the event". That'll die once they get bored and they'll leave Las Vegas holding the bag for millions in accommodations with a dying event.
I'm calling it the "Bernie Effect".
I think the Vegas race is going to be visually stunning. And that matters more than hotel room prices, because the number of people who attend a race is dwarfed by the number of people who watch it on TV (or whatever their particular way of delivering moving pictures to their eyeballs is). If more people tune in to see the spectacle, it'll be a success. If they tune in and happen to catch a glimpse of (unrelated random celeb) that gets them excited, excellent. The unrelated random celebs also get their airtime which is their lifeblood. Everybody wins.
People like us who work for a living and want to see a race live? Not important. The numbers are miniscule.
I don't think it's going to hurt Vegas in any way. It's not like they're building a new track out in the desert somewhere. They're building a new paddock building (which has come with a surprising controversy due to the name) but the land/building actually belongs to Liberty Media, aka Formula One.

In reply to Keith Tanner :
As a Las Vegas resident for the past 45 years this has happened across the board. About 20 years ago they started asking crazy prices for concert tickets and various shows.
We've now decided we want to be a "sports" town. Vegas also buys into it's own hype so the likelihood that we will get burned on one of these is a very real possibility.
For those of you in town that weekend; if you want to set up and informal GRM lunch meet up........I'm in.
Attending an F1 race was definitely a one-and-done thing for me. I'm glad I did it (Austin 2018), but I wouldn't want to go again. And that was back before the DTS hype. I much prefer watching it on TV.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Do replay eyes count? I don't see myself staying up for the race.
In reply to alfadriver :
I suspect they do, because you're still tuning in and that means you're seeing the sponsors and the pretty people.
Well... redbull back at the front. We can hope, I guess.
The race in Vegas being at the same time as the one this week in Japan just seems wrong. I know they have the temperature to worry about but a domestic race at 1am for a lot of the population won't help viewership as much.
Actually I forgot how long it was until that race, running it that late might be too cold.

Yeah. I went to Detroit in '88, then every USGP at Indy, then Austin in 2012. I think I'm done. Though, part of me still wouldn't mind going to Montreal.
Wow! 1:28.8! Just, wow!
Really wanted to see Lawson ahead of Tsunoda though.
The TD hurting RB cheerleaders going to be sore this morning .
Interesting qually....the McLarens are clearly the class of the non-Red Bull bunch, tho all of the top 10 have tightened up a lot. Fun to see the two Alpha Tauris in 9th and 11th, sad for Lawson that he won't get to keep his seat next year in favor of DannyRickyBobby in spite of how well he's doing, but that was always expected.
Good mix of chassis builders in the top 10, the start will be everything tomorrow. Is it LeClerc's weekend to be ahead of Sainz instead of working support?
Rumors getting stronger that Mick the Shoe will replace the Sarge next year in the Williams. Crashing out in qually doesn't help his case any, but Vowles seems supportive of the lad, I wonder if he's bringing lots of under the table cash to the team? Mercedes could be bringing the pressure to put young Mick in the seat too......
Lets suppose Stroll the younger did decide to go off and play tennis, who do you think Aston would target to replace him?
Sargent's crash in quali was just awful. He screwed up, then added to it, then drove directly to the scene of the accident. That was one of the clumsiest, most desperate bits of driving I've seen for a while.
The only reasons to put Mick back in an F1 car is cash, or German TV ratings.
Was Mick really that bad?
He was less bad than the Russian playboy. He was in a bad car. However, he was 19th pretty much every race...
Oh, Checo... 14 laps in, two penalties, third wing...
